That is the definition of an isolated, small town. It's basically Searcy, Arkansas demographically-speaking. Except there are far more people living within 50 miles of Searcy, Arkansas....

take capacity down to 50,000,
WTF? Why? That is stupid.
Agree. We have dumbass fans that want to go down that road for the sake of having chairbacks everywhere. People didn't complain about these things until fairly recently.

Well after going to Gillette Stadium in 2016 to see State play UMASS, I understand the pull towards better amenities. Every seat there was a chair back and you could stand up and walk past the other seats without disturbing them. It was first class all the way. On the other end of the spectrum is the Superdome (it is horrible and cramped and very uncomfortable). Not very enjoyable at all.
We typically go to one State game a year. Last year we went to the LSU/Bama games but just tailgated in the Junction and never went into the game. Ticket prices have gotten too high.
I do think we will see capacities stay stagnant or be reduced somewhat by having nicer and bigger seats with additional legroom going forward.
I do think Ole Miss’ has just piece milled their stadium to where it looks a bit dysfunctional now.
Comparing State and Ole Miss from 1980 until the present day, I think that State has done a better job of expanding/improving DWS than what OM has done with VHS. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out post-COVID.

The 1.3 million people living in the Memphis MSA are only an hour away.

They're kind of similar and both relatively isolated.
According to Google
Oxford to Memphis -1 hour 18 minutes
Searcy to Memphis -1 hour 53 minutes
Searcy to Little Rock -45 minutes

I am totally fine with the 60-65k capacity. There are 6-7 home games a year. Fans that are spending their money to go want it to be a good experience. I know at this point there is no way Mizzou is building a new stadium. But there are some easy fixes to make the experience better. I am not saying that the 80% of the stadium has to match the club level amenities, just make it better (chairbacks is a good start on lower level, north concourse space for concession/bathrooms, expand out West Side logistics, better wifi/cell coverage).
