The parameters are so damned broad. I mean, define average?

You put the WNBA all stars against a bunch of unathletic “something something Christian Academy” boys playing rural ball, maybe. You put them against a team of average athlete 14 to 18 year old boys that can play basic basketball, they’ll get smoked. No matter how you slice it the boys will ultimately be stronger than the women, and will able to impose their will physically.

I’ll put it this way. Sabrina Ionescu or Caitlin Clark may very well beat me in a game of HORSE. In a game of 21, even me, nearing 40, would have no issue scoring on them, or stopping them, just by doing the same thing my dad did to me in the driveway when I was 12 with constant backdowns and bowing up to prevent being backed down. Maybe they could shoot over me, but there will literally be nothing allowed to happen in the post. They couldn’t move me if they wanted to.

Men are different from women. All it comes down to.

Average? Maybe. One of the top men's HS teams? No.

They wouldn't be able to beat Pea Ridge High School.

It would be a fistfight for them to beat a small private school. I could be done on a good day, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

I agree, and for the record, if people believe women are as good as men in sports and there is no difference, then I would suggest doing away with women's sports completely and just let the tryouts begin and the best players make the team no matter the sex/gender or whatever they want to claim. The WNBA goes away the the women can try to make an NBA team.

Girls in high school no longer have protected team, they must compete for spots on the boys teams. Do that and they will back pedal and start talking about how unfair it is.

No, I don't think so. I wasn't good enough to play on my high school team, but me and a group of similar guys (some played in HS, some didn't) played pickup ball at Bama 4-5 times a week. In the summer, the women's team would occasionally roll up and ask to run, and we would beat them pretty handily. Granted, that was a bad D1 team at the time and not a WNBA team, but the difference in athleticism is crazy.

The video of the WNBA final looks like a 10 year old boys club team comprised of the leftovers after the guys who have been "coaching" at said boys club for years poached the best players.

This may sound like I am, or make me appear to be, a bit out there, but I played basketball a couple times a week til my late 50s, mostly with 20 and 30 somethings. I held my own, especially defensively. Sixty six now and I would relish to opportunity to take on Angel Reese one-on-one. The first time she tried to Caitlyn Clark me would be her last. I'm 6'1" and 185 with zero fat and still have nimble feet with above average speed for my age.

And believe it or not, while I can't dunk, I can still grab the rim.

I was a very average player, but a pretty decent post player, and loved the physical contact. I'm pretty sure I could physically pound almost any female player.
I'm 6', 240, (yeah, I need to lose 20), and those chicks aren't used to being banged on for an entire game.

Most aren't used to getting banged on at all.

Scissoring skills don't translate to post play.

You could tie the non-dominant hand behind the HS players backs and I would still pick them in a blowout.

Arab Alabama has no rules against playing vs women

With a mens's ball, no. Either would be a at a major disadvantage using the other's ball

Men using the women's ball would make scoring easier.

Basketball is a game where height and size matter a lot so this isn't an across the board accuracy...

In sports that we can actually MEASURE between men and women...

Elite women basically come in at the lower end of elite high school boys.

For instance. The women's word High Jump record is 6'11 and change. That will win the boy's state championship in a lot of states in a lot of years.

The number of schools in the country that would have a 6'11" boy's jumper on their team is pretty miniscule. So we can safely say that the top women high jumpers are better than high school boys.

In other events the HS boys fare better. Sprints, middle distance etc. But still.... most of the time your average , high schools will not have a boys 100m sprinter who is 10.7... or sub 48 400... or a 1:55 800 meter guy although many (particular the larger schools) will have them occasionally.

Moral to the story... WNBA players are going to be way better than you think. More than likely it would take a pretty good large high school program to beat them.

Great Crossing HS and most teams in the Kentucky state high school tournament would beat any WNBA team.

But April says they should be getting equal pay as her NBA counterparts.
