Why do we have so much more conference pride than other conferences?

Conference pride is a myth

because we lost the civil war and frick yankees, that's why.

Because everybody hates us. And it's fun to see everyone else suffer.

I actually think it has more to do with regional pride. The rest of the nation still views the Southeast as backwards, stupid, and poor. Whenever Southerner whips a yankee at anything, we'll rejoice.

Some may say it's due to the BCS success but I've known it to go well beyond these years. Pride in winning (yes, even track) always seemed to be something the expanded SEC latched on to long long ago.

Because it's fun to stick it to the media who constantly stereotypes you as herr durr dumb, racist, and poor.

I personally think the more a non conference fan base hates a SEC the more I enjoy when ANY SEC team beats them. Therefore, I probably love it when SEC teams beat Ohio State. Aside from that see the sentiments in the quotes above.

Bama, in the final minutes, after winning 3 of 4, was chanting "SEC!"
That. Says. A lot.
We know which side our bread is buttered. It helps everyone. Just ask Tubberville's undefeated AU team. No way that team gets left out now. No way any one loss team goes ahead of an SEC one loss team.
You win the SEC (or maybe not--see 2011), you're in.
Bama benefitted from this mystique mightily in 2011.
Your team could be next.

frickIN' THIS.
We won't lose this time, Yankee pussies. And you won't have the moral high ground like last time.

Agreed. The SEC being strong is good for everyone.
If you are against SEC pride, you are either a retard or an LSU fan.

I pulled against Alabama all year until last night. I like our conference being hated so much. Screw em all, jealous bastards.
