Me personally no I didn't hate the SEC. I wanted us to join years ago when we went to the BigXII because I have always believed if you play better teams you get better.

This and the Civil War thing have a lot of research going back to the 20s by media scholars and historians
to back them up. The 1926 Rose Bowl that Bama won was written about widely in the Southern papers as an opportunity
for the south to regain its dignity after the war and Reconstruction. When they actually won, it was a pretty
big deal down here because we could say we had something on par with anyone else that no one could take
from us. For years prior, teams in the North, Midwest, and West treated Southern football as a mediocre variation.
In the 20s that began to change.

Funny thing is that even back then, when we began to win, the rest of
the nation cringed. Georgia beating Yale in 29 is a big reason the Ivy League would eventually lock itself
inside its own walls and descend from a national power into obscurity. It was just too unseemly to getting beat
by a bunch of hayseeds.

Why do we have so much more conference pride than other conferences?

Because it allows fans like us to dickride because we suck at everything.

actually happened at the end of the first half too.

Everybody knew it was over by then. Even Brian Kelly's response to the sideline reporter said it best: "Maybe they won't come out in the second half"

If you think "Golden Domers vs. Mobile Homers" wouldn't have been used against LSU, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, SC, Auburn or whoever else we might have sent to represent the SEC, then you don't understand conference pride.

A win in Austin is victory over Yankees. You must defend the South.

Conference pride makes sense. Just read the Time story on how the SEC became the wealthiest conference.

But after that we will be given the Texas State Championship Trophy in Oxford when the Ags go down.

Prepare thy anus we have installed a QB sneak package.

That's part of it. But I root for Florida over FSU. Most of us do. So it's not all of it.

Serious question for A&M and Mizzou fans, before yall even were being considered to join the SEC, did yall hate us too?

No, I was always a fan of SEC teams, and my family considered ourselves more southern than anything else.

RandySavage typed some stupid shite which I cannot quote but rather am forced to reference in this manner. .

The thing about the SEC that some people fail, or refuse, to realize is that in the overall scheme of things every member institution in the SEC family contributes in one fashion or another. We are a rare conference in that regard. There really are no dead-beats.

For me, there's a fun factor. During bowl season, I have several teams to root for, and I actually know a bit about them. I may hate Bama, but I can admire what they do and enjoy rooting for them against an OOC opponent.

The only reason I pulled for Bama is because the ND fans are by far the worst in the country.

Nope, not ever, not even with LSU beating the snot out of us in the most recent bowl game matchup.

Several have chimed in about it being a regional thing, but I don't think that fully explains it. Miami is #2 on my "teams I love to hate" list, and Florida State is top 10. I think it's more about being a part of the best. I think A&M is already seeing the benefit of playing against the best, and it showed against OU.

The absolute best thing about the "SEC, SEC, SEC!" chant is it really rubs others the wrong way.

The conference was overlooked and shafted for a long time. I think it culminated with the undefeated Auburn team sitting on the sidelines during the National Championship game while two teams with far inferior resumes played to see who was second best.
