LSU is #12 on defense in YPP? That doesn't seem accurate. You sure it isn't 112?

So who’s the best defense you’ve played so far?

#19th YPP Defense in the country.

When LSU a played them last year they were the #2 YPP defense in the country.

We also played Clemson: the #3 YPP defense in the country and Alabama #15 and Auburn #17.

Including the game against us, yes.

More importantly, #5 in FEI.

I didn't make this into an argument, and it certainly wasn't a troll, but comparing the opponents the stats were accrued against is not going to make LSU's case better.

As noted a page or two back, 2020 Alabama's average opponent FEI defense is #38. LSU's 2019 average opponent FEI defense was #48.

The better argument is defenses in 2020 just aren't as good due to the COVID stuff, which isn't really provable but certainly feels reasonable.

Except LSU played #1, 3,4 and 5 in FEI last year.

That’s more too 5 teams than top 20 teams.

Don't think they played #5 (unless I missed a game vs Notre Dame). They also played Georgia Southern, Utah State and Northwestern State.

So, again, the average rank was roughly the same.

LSU 2019
Success Rate - 55.24%
Points Per Play - 0.68
Pts Per Drive - 3.81
% Drives with Score - 59.79%
Yards Per Play - 8.07
Explosive Play % - 15.49%
Negative Play % - 7.27%
3NOut % - 15.87%
Average FEI Defense Played - #48

Alabama 2020
Success Rate - 55.26%
Points Per Play - 0.72
Pts Per Drive - 4.14
% Drives with Score - 60.22%
Yards Per Play - 8.08
Explosive Play % - 17.29%
Negative Play % - 6.58%
3NOut % - 11.83%
Average FEI Defense Played - #38

We can sit around and pretend if only Alabama played some more Top 10 defenses they'd be slowed down, or we can be realistic.

#2 Northwestern
#3 Wisconsin
#4 Cincinnati
#6 Iowa
#7 Indiana
#8 Washington

You were definitely right, it Feels like the strongest argument is that 2020 stats are meaningless. Lol.

It's just nearly impossible to compare anything across conference lines.

I think we all know the B1G hasn't all of a sudden become the 2011 SEC

Pete Golding fielding a "top defense" faced, hu?

Kinda makes you question all those numbers you used and whether the ones you picked actually mean much at all, doesn't it?

The Big 10 just has shite offenses.

They all play Ohio State and get smoked and play each other in like 15-12 games.

Don't mean a thing without the ring. Don't let Clemson beat you and take a 3-2 lead in yalls playoff series.
