And what Gator fan has honestly made that claim?

None, after the spring game. There were quite a few Gators thinking yall were going to win the East this year. Thats pretty much saying the same thing.

You are the only one stupid enough to put stock in this metric.

I'm sure you'd comment this if LSU led in returning production and a fellow LSU fan posted it

I doubt LSU has led in returning production since the 1990s.

Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and disregard this metric for evaluating teams.

And yet it's exactly how the big sportswriters rank the teams coming into the season (it's the biggest factor). No wonder very few of the teams in the top 5 (preseason) aren't even sniffing the top 20 by season end.

I don't blame people for wanting to leave LSU.

Maybe for teams around the 10-25 mark. Do you really think its the biggest factor for schools like (Clemson, Bama, Ohio St. etc), they wouldn't make the top 10 if that was the case.

Give me both, especially in certain positions. OL? I'll take 4th year three stars over 1st year four stars any day of the week in the absence of any other specifics.

Experience is still pretty important in football even if it has declined in basketball.

Kentucky returns nearly it's entire defense and I'm under no delusion that that's gonna be worth much. Also where we're those Kansas guys gonna go? The only choice is graduate or transfer.

I think that is a pretty good article.

Also, I like the metric and it makes plenty of sense.

The metric is simply correlating returning experience with a team improving its offense and defensive numbers from the prior year.

A team that returns 10 starters on offense is likely going to have an offense that improves, especially if the passer (the highest weighted position and most strongly correlated with improvement returns).

The article and metrics used make a lot of sense and is useful in predicting improvement in offense and defensive numbers.

Me thinks a several posters have no idea what they read and are shitting on something they didn't comprehend.

Quick glance at the 'returning production' top 6 (leaving out Michigan State).

Michigan State is going to be really good though
