Part of the reason you can't see it is because your benchmark for what a "close game" is changes when you are looking at Alabama and then when you look at LSU.

You need to give up this argument. One season of a large load in college will not have any bearing on Henry's NFL career. Had he had 350 touches for 4 straight years you might be on to something, but that wasn't the case and hasn't been the case for any of Saban's backs at Bama.

Yes but those 90 carries in two games brought out the stupid people who assume Henry's whole career was like that.

The bottom line is this: Henry averaged 32 carries per game in SEC games. Fournette averaged 24 carries per game in SEC games.

So LSU ran LF more against a weak OOC schedule than they did in the SEC?

Henry was the best closer in football last year.. The AU and UF games could have turned on a tipped pass, fumble returns TD, or any other fluke play.. Give the ball to your closer and let him close..

Henry got the most of the carries last year because Drake went down with an injury against Mississippi State and Henry was still fresh and gaining chunks of yards each carry.

How much sense would it be to pull a RB that is gaining at least 6 yards per carry to close out at game? Not only that, but pull him and throw an inexperienced frehsman RB that could likely cost the game with a fumble, or a miss block, etc..
Henry was happy running the ball that much, and Saban was happy watching Henry run it.

Saban had a smile on his face at the end of the season and so did Henry. Errbody involved was happy!

I think he was the 3rd back taken in the draft but was probably the second or third best

That we can agree on.

No one... other than Cowherd and anyone trying to troll Alabama fans... is saying that it was wrong to run Henry so many times. The issue is not one of ethics. However, it is completely reasonable to question the necessity of running Henry that many times.

No team with Alabama's defense should need to run their star runningback 45 times per game in consecutive weeks to be able to beat two mediocre opponents. Nor should they have to run him 32 times per game against all SEC teams. Why place the kid in a situation in which it risks injury and puts such a beating on his body when it was never necessary? That's all anyone is saying.

Well. I guess I'd have hidden my face too if I were the OP after all of this.

It's ok. I damn sure understand that hate for another team doesn't necessarily produce logical arguments from myself, either. I enjoy the auburn rivalry, because i LIKE to hate their asses. It used to be worse. I used to hate them so much it wasn't fun. Now, of course, it's just fun. I prefer this side of the fence.

Your opinion is just that, it's yours.

Listen dude, it's evidenced by your posting style that you have strong opinions on how Nick Saban manages his team.

We "Bammers" have learned to accept that the man is the best in the fricking business today. He has a process in place that yields success at he highest level in college football and he maintains that process and consistently succeeds.

Henry was happy to run the ball and Saban was happy watching him run that son of bitch all the way to pick up the Heisman trophy on to the National Championship stage.

So Cowherd is talking about Saban and his abuse of Alabama running backs being the main reason Bama backs bust in the NFL. This stat says alot, Derrick Henry's 26.3 carries per game this season would would have been the most in the history of the NFL for a RB. This is just more proof that Saban doesn't give 2 shites about his players.

It's just terrible, isn't it? It has gotten to the point where we just can't get the top ranked high school RBs in the country to consider Alabama.

Cowherd has a stiffy for Saban for whatever reason. Even I don't take much of what he says seriously when it comes to him.

Dude, what about when your HOF RB Herschel was run so many times?

In 1980, he ran 43 times against South Carolina; 37 times against Florida.

In 1981, he ran 41 times against Ole Miss; 39 against Vandy; 47 against Florida; 37 against Auburn

In his college career, he had more carries, or more wear on his body than Henry did in his.
