Maybe dan would be a better recruiter if he was in a different state?

I think it's pretty clear he's never going to be a great recruiter. It's why I said, when he got the UF job, he's probably not the long term answer. When UF does get the right guy, though, closer to a Meyer or Spurrier than a Mullen or, God forbid, a Muschamp, they'll be trouble.

edit to note this is a good forum when posters actually discuss SEC football rather than silly trash talk. And yes, I do engage pretty often. When in Rome or Paris.....

So when he got to UF, they had won the East 2 of the last 3 years. Seems like a nice team to inherit to me. Especially considering the team Smart inherited hadn’t won the East in how long?

Keep changing your own parameters till it works for you, but that aside, Muschamp was their coach. Why, I never could understand, but he really was. Muschamp is never going to win titles.

How have the parameters changed? The team Mullen inherited had a more recent division title, multiple in fact. It’s also odd the only one you’re talking about parameters to are UGA fans. Most ppl gauge a coaches ability off wins, whether they be big games or h2h. Smart has a better h2h record, a playoff win, a conference title, a better record in ranked matchups, and more top 10 wins. Whatever parameter you’d like, the answer is obvious.

Mullen has more thrown shoes.
Or is discipline and team identity not a part of coaching?

Mullen inherited a better senior class, at the very least.

Didn’t Mullen inherit a UF team that won the east 3 of the last 4 years?

No. Googly says his first year at UF was 2018. SEC East below...

2017- UGA
2016- UF
2015- UF
2015- Missouri

UF did represent the East last year though.

That isnt a parameter changing? Lol

That is a factually flawed parameter.
But when corrected, the point still stood on its own.
(Florida with 2 more recent division titles than kirby inherited from richt).

It wasn’t. The parameter was which team inherited had a more recent division title. Instead of UF having 3 of the last 4, they had 2 of the last 3. Mullen still inherited a team with multiple recent division titles while smart did not.

I already said I don't think Mullen is the answer for UF long term. Not sure why some of you UGA fans are making this a huge deal since UGA is generally the better team recently. The only reason would be that you still fear UF. Since they won the division last year, it's probably reasonable that you do.

This is a terrible argument for who inherited a better team considering

1)the turnover in college football.

2) Those teams that won the division weren’t even that good. The East was worse than it is today lol
