I am so sorry to hear that. A coaching legend in the SEC. Prayers to the family and condolences to all the Auburn faithful.

He was on WJOX earlier this year and told a story about Kenny Stabler when he was an assistant to coach Bryant.
Bryant told Dye to take Stabler to some awards ceremony (Atlanta I think). He went by in the morning and Stabler was passed out drunk. He had to drag him out of bed and clean him up.
He told one a while back on JOX about Namath (could've been Stabler, but almost sure it was Namath) going out and getting hammered the night before a bowl game. He said Coach Bryant waited up all night for him to come back and was sitting in a rocking chair by the hotel entrance when he came back the next morning. He said he didn't even look up and told Namath "don't even worry about getting dressed today, cause you damn sure ain't playing." I always got a kick out of that story.

So sad! Sorry to hear of his passing. I will always remember the story about him telling Coach Bryant to kick a field goal against Tennessee in 1971 he said we'll get the ball back and score. Sure enough they did and won the game! RIP

That sucks. One of the last old school coaches. A mans man. No soy in his milk.
Edited to add: frickoff 2020.

This year has been indescribably awful. Just depressing, really. Starting with Rod and Paula last year it's just not been a whole lot of good news these last 365 days.

One of the very few left from a bygone era. An absolute legend. RIP Coach and thanks for everything.

I had the opportunity to meet him a few times via his grandchildren. He was a consummate gentleman and an excellent drinking companion. RIP Mr. Dye

His interviews on Saturdays in the South were my favorite.

Man that sucks and I hate to hear it. Pat Dye was one of the last remaining vestiges of the old school SEC. I read where Georgia, Alabama, and naturally Auburn all meant a lot to him.
From this Bulldog - War Eagle coach. RIP.
And to 2020.

I believe that was the '64 Sugar Bowl we played against Ole Miss. Somehow we still managed to win without him.

I always enjoyed him on Finebaum before Finebaum got too big.
