Cliff did a fantastic job as an assistant coach and recruiter at LSU, Central Florida and Ole Miss but is LSU really going to hire a head coach that has never led his team to Omaha ? That can change this weekend but the Pirates are heavy underdogs to take 2/3 in Nashville. Comes across as more of a middle tier SEC baseball hire than the premiere college baseball program in the country.

Id be happy with the DBU coach or Godwin to be perfectly honest

He made two trips and won a national title as hitting coach at LSU. He was hitting coach for Ole Miss in their only trip to Omaha in modern times.

He’s done a fantastic job as head coach at ECU.

What more do you want?

He’s coaching at ECU. Yes I’d hire him based on his resume.

Godwin is a very good coach, and LSU could certainly do worse. He's a good recruiter and a good developer.

They've done it before.

I’m not concerned. I’m very interested.

To act like this LSU search doesn’t affect Ole Miss is ridiculous. You missed out on Sully so your top 3 remaining candidates are Mike, Cliff and Dan. Our current head coach and the two guys we have pegged to replace our skipper whenever he exits. I just wonder if there’s going to be lots of grumbling by LSU fans if you bring in a guy who has never led his team to Omaha while at the helm.

I get the feeling they passed. There's a lot of smoke around KOS right now for off the field reasons.

If by missed out you mean LSU passed on him, then yes.

No offense but LSU baseball can make an average coach look legit
Even Smoke still made Supers and a couple Omaha trips

Bianco with LSU resources would have a lot more Omaha trips than Ole Miss ever will

I would be very pleased with Godwin. He's my number 2 behind Vitello at this point.

Your AD targeted Sully and contacted his agent. He told his team within the last 48 hours that he’s staying. You missed out on him.

I'd take Godwin over someone who's been at a university for 20+ years with only 1 trip to Omaha

Maybe but Bianco has had the #1 recruiting class a couple of times and a top 5-10 class most years so I'm not sure how much more you can give him.

We didn't "miss out". Too much baggage.

Whomever it may be, they'll have ample resources to succeed.

Godwin has a pretty good resume.

A handful of HOPE scholarships wouldn’t hurt
