What's going to help Dabo the most is when the CFP moves to 12 teams. If this were 2024, we would be in the playoffs and the fans would be more upset at losing the rivalry games than being upset at Dabo and the future of the program.

With that said, programs like FSU are on the move again and I think Miami has a lot of money down their that will be very aggressive in NIL deals to land players and using the portal. Clemson will have some serious contenders for the ACC top team in the next few years

I can’t imagine any scenario within next 3 years (other than a dead body in Dabo’s trunk) that would give Clem cause to fire Dabo. He’s gonna win at least 9 games just due to talent disparity in that conference.
Clem fired Hatfield 30 years ago cuz he “only” won 9 games and they then spent 20+ years hoping to win 9 games.

Serious question. Who has more/less self awareness of the state of the world of CFB outside of their own program, Dabo or Jimbo? That is, of the two coaches, who's got more potential to change/adapt for the future?

Jimbo finally looks a little defeated, his eyes are a little more open after tanking yet another program and proving to the world that it wasn't just the "facilities" at the last place. Dabo is what Jimbo was 7 or 8 years ago at FSU. He had coordinators and assistants who had no business with their jobs, it started costing them games, but they were yes men so Jimbo refused to fire them. He also bristled at anybody thinking he could possibly make a mistake in hiring so he dug his heels in just to say frick y'all. That's going to be Dabo the next few years I think.

How he keeps running Dj U out as QB1 is shocking.

It blows my mind that DJ was considered a generational talent and a sure-fire P5 starter/early NFL pick right out of high school:

OAKLAND RAIDERS

Big, strong armed quarterback with generational arm strength. Has a big frame but looks lean and is well put together. Has one of the strongest arms in recent memory and has won ‘long ball’ contests with a throw of 80+ yards. Is much more than a big arm. Shows great touch, accuracy to all three levels of the field and greet natural feel for throwing the football. Understands when to take a little off, throws with anticipation and is a plus athlete as well. Has the ability to run zone read and is a very good runner in the open field. Can buy time and is accurate throwing down the field rolling out to his right or his left. Natural leader and a great teammate who is also a potential high round draft pick in Major League Baseball. Can still improve going through progressions and finding secondary receivers as well as escaping pressure. Upside is off the charts. Projects as a impact upper tier Power 5 starter and future early NFL draft pick.

Wrong! If it were 12 teams this year you would have lost to us and then gotten embarrassed in the 1st round of the playoffs. The fans would still be pissed.

They compared him to Jamarcus Russel so they got the bust part right just not the good college career to go with it
