Cincinnati actually matches up pretty well with Alabama. Big mobile QB, Lockdown Corners.

Cincinnati has the corners to reduce the Jameson Williams impact.
Frees up the defense to stack the run and create havoc.

Running QB's have always been kryptonite to Alabama's defense.
I know that Saban has adjusted in recent years away from a front 7 full of slow fat guys, and more towards a faster athletic front 7.

Big mobile qb, solid rb, some big wr's, lockdown corners and a physical salty defense.
Gonna give Alabama all they can handle, and wouldn't be shocked if they beat bama.

could be a trap game for alabama. they are so mighty and invulnerable, how can they possibly get up for cincinati? they are bound to be looking forward to the championship game. Meanwhile, if Fickell is the coach everyone says he is, he will watch the tape, put 2 men on Jameson, and rush the crap out of Alabama, putting a lot of pressure on the RT.

i figure even if he is successful on the defense, relatively, he'll need to score 28 to 31 to win. can his oline hold up and/or can he compensate.

because metchie is out and he is such a huge underdog, he's got a chance. I'm not hoping for a miracle but man, it would be beautiful.

i'll bet a fiver to a donut nick will spend the month trying to sell his team on what worldbeaters the Bearcats are.

Let me give you the reader's digest version of all this. Cincy has to run, a lot. Jerome Ford will need a Heisman moment for 4 quarters. The more Cincy throws the worse this game will get.

The huge elephant in the room that everybody (not an Alabama fan) seems to not want to look at is the level of athletes and competition disparity between these 2 programs!!

We all brag about the SEC being so tough during conference play due to quality of players/coaches, competition, etc……yet we seem to throw that argument away when comparing/matching a team like Cincinnati with Alabama!!

Hell I had to look up which conference they belong to!! Their schedule is ridiculous soft, yet they struggled at times with really bad teams!

The ONLY thing Alabama was missing this season was…..motivation and focus! It happens when you are at the top for as long as they have, players want to sleepwalk thru the regular season because they know it’s almost meaningless to them. For them, it’s a NC or bust!!

We saw what a motivated team did to the #1 team in the nation with the #1 defense. You really think that a team like Cincinnati matches well vs Alabama?? Lol

Sure, you play the game because there’s always a chance of an upset but these threads are a bit laughable or just flat out flaming/trolling!!

Cincinnai has a recent history of playing to their level of competition over the last couple years

You can look at the games against bad opponants where they sleepwalked to wins. But you also have to look at their games the last couple years against teams like top 10 ND (11 point win) and top 10 Georgia (3 point loss).

It's not like Cincy rolls over and plays dead when a big opponent lines up. Recent history actually suggests the opposite.

I think it will be a good game. And I think Cincy has a real chance to pull an upset. Fickell is a damn good coach, and he has some very good players to work with.

Be careful, these gumps are a sensitive bunch.

Cincinnati's strength (corner) matches up well with Alabama's strength.

The fact that UC has a mobile qb will keep bama D honest.

For a non P5 school, they happen to be strong in all of the right places to have a chance against an Alabama.

For some reason the gumps take that as an attack on all things Alabama.

Again, Alabama is in a different league!!

Notre Dame as usual is overrated, I think they would be a middle of the pact team in the SEC.

If both teams play to their potential, this game is a blowout by Alabama!

duh, bama is loaded with 5 stars, UC is loaded with 2 stars.

I am simply saying that for an overmatched team that they happen to be strong in just the right places to give them a chance.

These are the responses that make me realize I wasted my time trying to have actual football discussion because the rest of rhe thread is predominantly loudmouthed dumbass trolls trilling each other with no desire to actually understand the teams involved.

I'll see myself out.

That's true. But are we sure Alabama has just all of the sudden solved the consistency problems that showed up all year? Sure they played a complete game against Georgia, but that has been the exception to the rule this year for Alabama. If Bama plays like they did against A&M, LSU, Auburn, and Arkansas then Cincinnati is good enough to win.

Cincinnati runs a similar defense to Ole Miss. Williams is not our only weapon. Brian Robinson will be healthy by then and will gives us back that one-two punch of pass and run.

This game will be over by the 2nd quarter. The group of 5 got their wish to be represented in the playoff - prepare to get manhandled and embarrassed
