Chips are down: Which SEC coach gets canned at the end of the season?

My guess is Drinki.
I'm still not versed on what Jimbo's buyout looks like at this point and barring a complete collapse on field, any sign of improvement gives him 1 more year of crootin so his buyout isn't as insurmountable.

Drink would have to go like 3-9 to get fired this season with his buyout. That's not even gonna come close to happening.

It seems like Drink and Jimbo have the hottest seats. Some might say Napier, but I think he gets another year unless it's an absolute dumpster fire like 2-10 or something. Will be interesting to see if MS State hires a new HC even if Arnett is not technically canned. Seems like the others may be safe barring a complete disaster.

I'll be surprised if it's anyone other than Drink.
Fisher and Pittman are possible if the seasons are horrible enough, but those are the only other two that seem to even have a long shot chance of being fired.

If Napier has a losing record things will be touch and go down at UF.

Arnett will be just fine and hurt some of your feelings reaaaal bad..

Yeah Napier is safe unless he starts fielding 6-man offenses or something.
If Jimbo doesn't make the playoffs it's going to get ugly.

Drink misses a bowl, he is probably fired on the field in Fayetteville Bert style. 6-6 is probably still has a job, very well could be fired. 7-5 he won't be this year. Its definitely a Show-Me kind of year for Drink
Just by process of elimination, and barring complete collapses
Alabama no
Arkansas, idk what the temp is like in f'ville. If they go 6-6 again does Titboss keep his job, my guess is yes
Auburn no
Florida, probably will give Napier another year no matter what
Georgia, no
Kentucky, no
LSU, no
Miss St, do they move on from Arnett at the end of the year?
Ole Miss, no
South Carolina, no
Tennessee, no
Texas A&M, I think they go worse than 7-5 he is probably gone
Vanderbilt, no

Napier is safe. He has classes coming in and Florida will by in championship discussion by DJ Lagway's sophomore season.

If Jimbo goes 8-4 he is probably safe for one more year. If he goes 7-5 or worse then I think A&M will have to cut bait at some point.
I think Pittman's seat becomes hot if he goes 6-6 or worse but I don't think he's in danger this year barring 3-9 or 2-10. Same goes for Drink.

1. Napier - I don't think it happens, but Florida is too used to winning to endure another down year.
2. Fisher - A&M seems perfectly content with mediocrity, but eventually it has to see a return on its enormous investment, right?
3. Arnett - MSU made a quick hire under terrible circumstances. He might prove immediately to be overmatched.

Florida has had basically 4 "good" seasons since 2010. The 2 Atlanta appearances under McElwain were smoke and mirrors.
Florida is used to losing now. And will lose bigly this season.

Arnett will be on the seat after this year, loses 17 starters next year and won’t win more than 3-4 games in 24. New coach in 25

No kidding, 6-7 and 3-5 in the SEC, the dude gets an extension. Gary Pinkel has to be laughing his butt off.

As much as I would love to see Fisher canned if he fails once again, he's probably safe because the money doesn't like to admit they made a mistake.

There is nothing short of Napier screwing a shark or showing up to a post-game in a Darth Vader costume that would get him fired this season. Great class coming in 2024, game changing QB. Most UF fans just want to see some improvement in 2023.

$77M after '23
$68M after '64 based on article I read.
Drink just signed a new deal thru 2027. If he's fired he gets 75% of his remaining deal. He gets $6-7M per year.

Drink is a dead man walking until/unless he hits 5 SEC wins this year. His buyout is nothing.
