Chips are down: Was all of this even necessary?

It looks like everything is going to return back to the way it was two weeks ago, and yet the time span in between caused upheaval unlike we've witnessed within the conference in our lifetime, or at least several generations.
Why did this need to happen only to we end up back here after all that?

Simple. Greg Sankey is an incompetent leader. He is a fraud and every second he was on that stand revealed it to the world. Now he has his pussy in twist because he got caught lying on the stand.

no - could have easily been handled behind closed door. SEC could even have said publicly that these kids deserve another year while simultaneously squashing it behind closed doors.
only thing I can think is Kiffin banged Sankey's wife or daughter.

I believe simply we fans do not know all the facts around this spat. I've said in another thread neither side appear to be acting rationally based on the information out there.
It may or may not be necessary. The real judgment will be in a few months after more is disclosed over time.

They always had this authority

This was my impression too but it appears they needed more teeth in legal terms?

The ruling from the Louisiana judge seemed to put this into question.

This.
They’re asking the court to allow them to expel a member without any consequences.

This is two different issues. LA judge simple said the SEC is an acting as an agent of the NCAA when they came out with a hastily written rule the day after a TRO was granted.

And then immediately make Chambliss ineligible

What’s crazy about society on the internet is that this question was answered in the post correctly and without a bunch of stuff to confuse the issue, and people still just argue. God bless America.

Absolutely necessary. Your governor and his Crewe of Fools needed some bitch slapping.

It had to happen. At least Kiffin showed what an arse he is, made himself the guinea pig and tried to pull this.
Glad he got bitch slapped and it's over.

Nope. It was all dumb as shite. This should have been handled behind closed doors. This wasn't in anyone's best interest, and the SEC needs to tread lightly, the BIG has been kicking our arse lately. New leadership is, in fact, needed. This has been apparent since the latest round of media rights musical chairs.

Only if they attempt to expel without any justification / reasoning or if the justification for expulsion is a violation of a court order.

Does that sound like a world you want to live in?
