Dude...traveling into and out of Knoxville means you are either using I-75 or I-40. The "I" means Interstate. Do you know who funds the interstate systems? Most of the funding is by the federal government, and a small portion is funded by the state (which in this case, funding would come through Nashville). Knoxville has very little control over planning or funding the Interstate infrastructure that passes through there.

Then why is I-75 way less of a shitshow in Virginia or Georgia?

If it isn't the roads, then its the drivers.

Because in Knoxville, I-75 and I-40 are combined. You are actually in 2 interstates at the same time, but they didn't make them big enough to carry the traffic that they handle.

Per the Interstate 40 Wikipedia page,, "The busiest stretch of I-40 is in Knoxville, concurrent with I-75, which has an annual average daily traffic volume of more than 210,000 vehicles

This is referred to as the "West Knoxville Corridor"

Also...if you say I-75 isn't a 5hitshow in Georgia, then you haven't spent much time passing through Atlanta at rush hour.

Neyland Entertainment District Project

"A hybrid condo-hotel peeking into Neyland Stadium will be the centerpiece of the development.

It will feature 240 rooms, 60 luxury condos, conference center, lounges, spa, fitness center, pool, terrace and rooftop restaurant and bar with a prime view on game days.....Tailgating, restaurants, retail and other entertainment eventually would be part of the development."

You would think UF could have hit the billion if they did a better job of negotiating the Gatorade rights.

We should be swimming in Gatorade money like Oregon swims in Nike money or LSU swims in Shriner's Children Hospital money

Comparing to Atlanta at rush hour is apples and oranges. Atlanta is home to millions of people (over 4 million in the metro area).

Knoxville doesn't even have 1/20th of that.

Atlanta metro is over 6 million, not 4. Knoxville metro is over 850,000.

I realize that arithmetic is rarely taught in Alabama, but even you should realize your numbers don’t make sense.

So...the people traveling on Interstate through Knoxville are only locals? Who knew?

Volume studies show an average of around 210K vehicles traveling the West Knoxville Corridor daily. Which is about half of what you see on I-75 through Atlanta (right around 420K shown on latest stats). But, show me one place on the stretch through Atlanta that is only 3 lanes in each direction. It's an infrastructure issue...and that is on the Department of Transportation...not the "local drivers".

Remember...Atlanta has 3 Interstates (that are not combined) with multiple bypasses. The West Knoxville Corridor has 2 Interstates combined with no by-pass in that section. That means that every single car traveling through Tennessee on either I-75 or on I-40 are together on that one stretch of road.

It's funny how every says the NFL is "rigged" for the Chiefs when they have the 11th lowest revenue out of 32 teams....and the Cowboys sitting at #1 in most revenue haven't made the Super bowl since the 1990s
