CBS 2:30 games sucked. Yeah the theme song was great, but the rest was AWFUL. Night games were a little better, they seemed to move quicker pace of play was better. But those day games drug on FOREVER.

2000's era ESPN night games were my favorite, with Mike Patrick

Personally, I miss watching Kentucky play Mississippi State or South Carolina every other Saturday on Jefferson Pilot. The grainy picture was sublime!

Not me.

I loved being able to turn it on ABC and let it ride the whole day last season.

Better game times less overlap.

Huge win as a fan of the SEC

A COMPLETE dereliction of duty on their part to let the cash cow SEC go.

It's good and all but the selection of games and the money is far better now. That CBS deal had us stepping on our own dicks.

No doubt. CBS should have stepped up and paid the money we are worth (the SEC).

Its certainly a post-apocalyptic vibe to see them air Nevada vs Penn State as their prime time game Week 1 this year

Yea, the sec games are pretty much just all awesome. Conference is stacked head to toe. Even the bad teams have large devoted fan bases.

CBS offered a much better broadcast. The picture was clearer, no giant ticker, the crowd shots were better, the sound mix was WAY better, and I'd take Verne/Brad over Chris Fowler any day of the week.

Verne was the best. It was like watching a game with your grandfather.

Believe it or not. Franklin once upon a time was the everyday sports newscaster on channel 2 and channel 11 in Houston. That was before his time with ESPN. Dude was superb. Different style than Keith Jackson. Miss both. They brought something extra to the broadcast.

Oh, I lived in Houston at the time. It's not hard for me to believe. He was also the play by play voice for the Oilers during the Luv Ya Blue days.

Couldn't agree with you more about both Franklin and Jackson.
