See how that goes for the SEC when they sue half of their league under an arbitrary punitive reaction clause made last minute for a situation they got caught with their pants down on.

Since the YouTube / podcast explosion. I NEVER watch ESPN anymore.
Anyone who was remotely likable from back in the day is gone. Except SVP. But I don't even watch him lol.

Time for a new commissioner

Sankey has got to go man.
This has been an EPIC failure in every way. No foresight or proactive vision at all. Every off season is just a disjointed mess. Eligibility, scheduling, playoff. We keep losing.
BIG10 is positioned to expand again. My prediction is with Notre Dame and Miami. They want Florida St and North Carolina too but I think those schools WANT to stay regional. But adding Notre Dame / Miami in the modern era would dwarf our money,
I wish he spent less time lobbying congress, fighting his own team's potential success (albeit an ugly loophole) and led his league better. We are falling behind while peacocking at podiums. Weak.

Like borderline defamation .... wouldn't the true story of this being nation wide be a bigger story? Why try to destroy a school?
One day the NCAA / Conferences will go away, and the media deals offered will be all that matters as schools broker their own rights. Good luck competing with Amazon and Netflix while spewing click bait outrage lol.
Tigers going to roll yall

We need sensible rules, but the NCAA and SEC deserve this ...

For all the decades of corruption, favoritism, exploitation, rigging, media manipulation, selective justice ...Every school in some measure has been impacted to some degree by the incompetence / corruption of the NCAA / SEC. Everybody should be relishing at the opportunity to get better while the getting is good. There hasn't been real "integrity" in college sports for 100 years, so spare me on that point. I think uniform enforceable rules across the sport would make the product even better, but until then compete or lose. Because once those games are on TV no one will care about any of this as long as you WIN.
I will NEVER forgive / forget the hypocrisy of the Will Wade witch hunt. Glad we got him back.

re: Changed movie opinions on first and second viewings

Another one I liked the first time ... but now is just objectively not a good movie,
The Dark Knight Rises
I love Batman movies. And I still like the movie because it's Batman. But sheesh it's a pretty bad movie. The recent " The Batman " blows TDKR out the water.

Changed movie opinions on first and second viewings
Posted by Outback Ray on 8/5/26 at 10:56 am
There's been plenty of times I've had a solid opinion on a movie on the first viewing but on the second viewing I completely changed my mind. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse.
"Once Upon a Time In Hollywood"
First time I thought it was really empty / slow / meandering and not that engrossing till the end, on the second viewing I felt like the movie is was like floating through a dream above the world you're watching and now I think it might one of my favorite QT movies, because it's so different, and it's genuinely more funny than I remembered.
Any other films you changed your mind on?

I typically enjoy Nolan movies, At no point did this movie really move me in a good way. It was like a jerky rollercoaster that felt more painful than thrilling or entertaining. Disappointed it couldn't be the epic of our time, movies like this don't get made anymore. Super forgettable and I think it's a big miss, regardless of what the propaganda machine says. Once the echo chamber dies down, time will show no-one is going back to re-watch this movie a bunch of times.
Baton Rouge long term outlook
Posted by Outback Ray on 4/24/26 at 11:09 am
Almost 40, I have young kids. I do love a lot about Baton Rouge, and it's home. But all my extended fam beyond my folks, are from or live elsewhere. I know places have their ups and downs. I know BR isn't rated super high on the best places to live and I'm really not keen on living anywhere else in the state. But man yesterday shook me, I have a little girl. I can't imagine the grief and anger that family is feeling. Pain / Tragedy can find you anywhere I get that, but my mind works logically and you don't want to overexpose yourself to being unsafe. To be frank Baton Rouge just "feels" so different than it did even 20 years. I know everyone says that as they age but I don't think it's just because I'm older.
Ive pretty much stopped going out at night to places besides restaurants a few years before COVID. It was so expensive and a hassle with young kids. But geez so much of culture hubs / city life has become just miserable or unsafe feeling. Almost creepy and seedy. Nothing feels beautiful, nothing feels happy. My favorite remaining parts of BR are Highland Road Park / LSU lakes, nature helps with that.
But I'm thinking I might not stay. I don't want to raise my kids, thinking every-time they go out when they are older, they are at MORE unneeded risk, than if I were in another place with less crime. It's all so depressing. Our life and home is in a pretty safe bubble. But I am growing tiresome of what's outside.
Is there any feasible hope for BR to improve in the next 5 to 10 years?

FSU just needs to get the heck out of the ACC. They will be relevant again once they can align in a new conference. I think Clemson is screwed. That ride is over.
re: Where is the money coming from… let’s talk budget
Posted by Outback Ray on 1/19/26 at 9:28 am to saturncube21
I think LSU has more financial support under this leadership and the governor play a big role in that. There is actually some really big dollar boosters people don't know about that have emerged. Also I think based on the guys they brought in, a lot of them are multi year players. So I don't think we spend nearly as much NEXT off season.
If all plays right and Land can win on the field. LSU will be bringing in more money than they ever have before.

LSU Basketball "should" be great ...
Posted by Outback Ray on 1/6/26 at 7:30 pm
With the LSU brand, tradition, and Hall of Fame players, our Basketball program should be so much better.
Not sure if it's the old guard trying to control everything, or just lazy ATROCIOUS hires. But at least Will Wade wanted to be great here. The passion was back, the basketball was imperfect; but the desire / belief / interest was back.
I have never understood the level of incompetence by the powers at be to not getting behind a money making sport.
As a basketball fan, it's such an insult how little care / effort there it

Kinda meh, no real charismatic like Billy or Eddie to be the icing. It has potential to close really well, but I think breaking it up was a bad idea. Should have been all the episodes BUT the finale. If people sour on it it's not going for driving viewership,

I don't like massive deviations from source material, either write a completely different story, or stay faithful, don't mix it
Aspects of this film I really loved, starts really strong but ultimately in the end it's not that good.

re: Johnny Depp to play Ebenezer in new Christmas Carol movie
Posted by Outback Ray on 10/24/25 at 10:47 pm to Gifman
A Christmas Carol is one of my favorite works of Literature even though it's seasonal the material is so incredible and very human. Johnny Depp is interesting casting. I usually prefer a Brit, but it could work. With Johnny I think it should tilt a little darker and more gothic. A warm brassy version with Jack Sparrow could be a silly hot mess.
Willem Dafoe would be an amazing choice to play Scrooge
