Congrats to him. Fantastic player. He has been so good that great players like Cags and Petry arent able to win the awards that would in normal years. Seems like a good kid too

And if UGA hadn't offered him he was going to play D3.
It sounds ridiculous in hindsight but every D1 program in America whiffed on his eval, that's not unique to just us.

No, he was just tall and lanky. He needed a season to redshirt.

Late bloomer. Tall skinny kid. Played football, so wasn't on the fall baseball circuit. Covid hit during his junior year. Just some of the reasons.

If this is true then it was by choice. He was highly sought after. #1 first baseman in Georgia, top 400 player in the nation, & rated a 9 on a 10 scale with PG.

College baseball teams only get 11.7 scholarships. Lots of very good college players accept preferred walk ons. Its not like he was some Georgia student they found at a team tryout.

He also qualified for Georgia’s in-state scholarship (Hope Scholarship?), so he was getting aid that no other SEC school could offer, even though he was technically a walk on.

Doesn’t LSU have a similar scholarship program? TOPs?
