Yea well Putin succeeding in influencing a NATO military buildupthat only just begun and had success in extending Russia’s borders with Nato when he drove Finland (a country that refused Nato membership for 70 years) into Natos lap. So if Putin’s claims about what he wants for Russia are true then his actions have done exactly the opposite of what he wanted. However, his claims are not true. He wanted Ukraine for its natural resources and strategic location on the Black Sea. He was never worried about a Nato invasion and obviously still isnt although his actions are bringing that possibility closer to fruition.

At one point they did have a 10:1 disparity in artillery shells but those days are over and have been for some time.

Ukraine announced that 45,000 of their soldiers have died in the war. That’s absolutely bullshite. Youre on the right track there. But as someone who has extensively followed this conflict and others, i can say that the Russian casualties and deaths far outweigh the deaths and casualties on the Ukrainian side. Ukraine has basically been on the defensive for this entire conflict. There are a few outliers like what happened in the Kharkiv region and Kursk (at this time Russians have taken back half of the territory gained by Ukraine) but overall they are fighting a kargely defensive strategy. The Russians have been on the offensive. When you are on the offensive you lose more soldiers. Thats just how it plays out. Not only in this war but the vast majority of conflicts in the modern era. Russia employs a strategy where they just continue to send soldiers in in waves to take Ukrainian positions. The so called “meat assaults”. They take ground at a moderate rate but the cost in human life dwarfs the deaths on the Ukrainian side. They dont care because they mostly send troops from poor areas or Russia, prisoners, or international recruits to man these meat assaults.
Of course 45,000 deaths from the Ukrainian side is propaganda. Id assert that its at the very least, double that number. However the Deaths on the Russian side out weigh those on the Ukrainian side by a number of around 3 or 4 to 1. Its just the nature of the Russian offensive strategy. You asserting that Russia must be losing less troops than Ukraine because they are Russia and hold a 10:1 artillery advantage (false) is just a foolish statement considering how this war has played out and shows that you dont really follow whats happening in Ukraine.

Putin is not gonna stop at Ukraine if he manages to take the whole country. His next target will be Moldova, which isnt a nato country so that wont be the flashpoint, but when hes done with Moldova the next targets on his list will be the former eastern bloc countries like Romania, Lithuania, and Estonia. These are Nato countries so barring his death and a total change of Russian idealogy, Nato will be drawn into war. Might as well try and prevent him from taking all of Ukraine or war is inevitable. His goal is to reestablish the power of the former Soviet Union. He was never concerned about Nato expansion. He knows very well that Nato has no designs or wishes to invade Russia. Nor would they need to be on the Russian border to attack Russia. Nato has plenty of air and naval power. His own actions have driven Ukraine to seek Nato membership and have also driven two countries in Finland and Sweden, who have rebuked Nato membership for many decades, to join the alliance. That in itself contradicts everything Russia claims about Nato expansion. They use these excuses to expand Russia’s reach and territory. Putin’s “red lines” have been crossed time and time again with no response from Russia. Russia’s nuclear threats are empty when it pertains to this conflict. They are not going to use them to strike Nato territory because theyd be signing their own death warrants along with 85% of their population.

I frequent reddit and the political board and i can safely say that collectively both groups are comprised of mostly idiots. Its amazing to see how opposite but similar you are. There’s almost a complete lack of rational thought processing on both sides.
