More nattys than LSU

They have one more and LSU is 10 and 3 against the Hurricaines. With 2 of those wins this century. Miami's last win over LSU was almost 48 years ago. Their last title was 25 years ago.

Miami always draws interest. As they should.

Oregon is interesting from a nouveau riche perspective.

Indiana, with Cignetti, draws interest. Indiana has a big footprint in Chicago as well.

Ole Miss is certainly the least interesting, but you have the SEC and Lane-less aspect to garner attention.

not taking away from anything LSU has done from 2001-2019...but a good half of those years were dealing with some brutal Alabama losses
That's good because most of that period outside Boise State they were the winningest team and won three titles. Do you consider Florida State a blue blood?

I think the CFP with these 4 teams will be as good as ever as far as outsider fan interest is concerned

Maybe?

Indiana's biggest regular season game, against Oregon, was 4th most viewed behind the following:
Oklahoma vs Texas
Alabama vs Missouri
Georgia vs Auburn

While two of those are rivalry games, Auburn was already a dumpster fire and there's no "hate" between Alabama and Missouri.

They never had the most watched game in the regular season; they reached #2 with their game against Penn State but that game had a noon kickoff and had very little competing against it during the same time slot.

Their final game, against Purdue, was 11th... pulling in fewer viewers than games like Iowa/Nebraska and Cincinnati/TCU

Among most watched teams, only one member of the CFP made the top 10 - Ole Miss at #10

Oregon sits at 11, Miami at 15, and Indiana at 22

So it is possible to see it happen, and it would be cool to see a team with a poll title win this year (Indiana, Oregon or Ole Miss), but I will have to wait and see if that magically translates into more viewers.

Last year overall viewership was down despite having two massive fanbases represented in the finale (Ohio State and Notre Dame) and the game being competitive (though, admittedly, there was a stretch where it didn't look like it was going to end as close as it did); the only title games that were lower rated were two blowouts (Georgia over TCU and Alabama over Ohio State).

Competitive games still drive ratings the most, so the overall numbers for this year, with some come-from-behind wins and some very close wins may boost the ratings, but that is separate from it having anything to do with the "Cinderella" nature of the teams.

TBH… I’m done with CFB for the year. Once UGA loses, I have no further interest and I honestly mean that. SEC basketball tips off tomorrow and we’re on to that. Those whose team remain standing have all the right to be excited etc.

Just my own opinion, I consider FSU to be more aligned with a "New Blood" type category that includes Miami, Florida, LSU, Georgia, and Clemson

I see the "Bluebloods" as the OG teams of the sport...Michigan, Alabama, Ohio State, USC, Notre Dame, Texas, Nebraska, Oklahoma

Personally, I love it!! I’ve grown bored seeing the same schools in the Championship every year- Ohio State, Bama, UGA. Boring…

It’s refreshing to see some new faces in there. Hopefully, this validates the playoff system and brings new fans to the game.

Ole Miss vs Minnesota and Oregon vs Miami would be more intriguing match ups .

Ole Miss vs Minnesota would certainly be intriguing as it would be the first playoff game involving a team that didn't even qualify yet slipped into the semis unnoticed.

I’d rather watch Ole Miss and Indiana in the natty than any of the others

To me it’s better to have different teams making the finals. That’s the whole point of the 12 team playoff

3 of the 4 top seeds have been eliminated

The Miami and Ole Miss ratings are gonna feed countries (maybe not Miami game since it was NYE)

Final 3 games will be high too

NBA had 2 small market teams in finals and set new highs. Fans will watch. Some hate watch. Others just watch.

Well thank goodness viewer numbers don't have anything to do with championships.

The term blue blood, to me, only has room for 5 teams.

Basketball: UCLA, North Carolina, Duke, Kentucky, Kansas.

Football: Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, USC, Notre Dame.

This is the list, as of now.

Hopefully only the diehard cfb fans tune in. The less money in the sport the better. I would rather all the casual fans go with the nfl and let college football be more of a niche thing again.

In other words, let’s go back to paying the players under the table and hoard all the talent - says the fan of a blue blood program.

This is just fascinating to me. No other sport on any level shits on underdogs more than the FBS. I’m glad this level is slowly shedding its beauty pageant status beginning with the committee telling ND to pound sand.

Meh. If they beat ole miss then miami will have more playoff wins than LSU. What was LSU before Saban got there? They are more of a blueblood than lsu
