It’s presumably because Duke upset UVA and the ACC fans were going to be furious if no ACC team made it.
UVA would have been 11-2 and would have had a decent enough resume to make it over JMU and Tulane. Duke on the other is 8-5, including a head to head loss to Tulane.

Yeah, if Bama can get its OLine together, could beat OU. But that's a big if in Norman. But after that, it would be Indiana and then TT or Oregon. I wouldn't be shocked at a Bama/UGA rematch in the title game.
But Bama has to get its act together on that OLine. I think Bama's D is playing very well. It just got worn out and had to defend short fields because of Bama's ineptitude on offense and STs.

He’s unfortunately right. I was against expansion originally, but no reason to exclude a 2 loss SEC team from a 12 team playoff. Need to go to 16. The diff between1 or 2 losses can be schedule.
