its recruiting the old way is quickly becoming a thing of the past with the NIL rules. recruiting writers are the bottom of the totem pole even in sports journalism.

I'm beating a dead horse at this point, but any Rebel fan who did not have a subscription to the OM Spirit did not give a flying frick about Yancy Porter or Chuck Rounsaville. They represent a past generation of sports reporting who continually chose to do things their way, rather than the right way. I hate to see anyone lose their job, but they've been asking for this for years.
What sucks is Ben Garrett did not deserve to lose his job. He's easily the best OM writer from the 24/7 site, but is unfortunately going down with the ship due to some stupid shite he had no part in.

That was David Johnson. He was the original guy at 247 before the merge brought the other 3 over from Scout

I listened to the podcast episode from yesterday and Ben might burn Yancy’s house down.
He went on quite the tirade. I get it because he’s paying for Yancys frick up, but the guy went into “I have a nice house now because of this job” and you could just tell that he was legit fearful he was going to get fired and kinda did all he could to disassociate from and pin all this on Yancy.

Chuck has covered Ole Miss sports since the 80s and built at one time the biggest Ole Miss website with the spirit in the 2000s. It’s crazy to think it’s gone in a few days because of Yancy. If David Johnson can’t hire Ben Garrett to 247 because he’s under contract with the OM spirit than it’s pretty bad for David Johnson. The Ole Miss rivals site was doing a free subscription promo code last night after this went down.
