We’re halfway though the season and not once have I even stopped on CBS to so much as check a score. I’ve watched a little Fox. But the vast majority of the football I’ve watched, and I watch every Sat. from 11 AM to about 10:30, has been ABC, ESPN, or SEC Network.
100%, its a lot better now.
The SEC move to ABC was awesome.

I'm laughing at CBS. I can spell. I don't piss in pots. I piss in toilets. The CBS deal may be good for the B1G but it's not good for CBS. They are paying far more for a less consumed product. The SEC is also getting far more exposure than we ever have. The real winners are:
I don’t think j you know what a long term deal means lol. I’m fairly certain that this extends well past a few weeks of a single season. There’s a reason networks like CBS have been around a lot longer than you or me.

This is a cute little thread but everyone knows the B1G is just now getting into conference play. The ratings will go up once the premiere matchups take place,

I love the fact that the premier SEC game of the week is in the night prime time slot as opposed to 230 on CBS. Big night games are awesome and garner more viewers

They were limited on time slots and broadcast limits. It makes since they didn't overpay. ABC has pick of the entire lineup and can show 3 games on Saturday if they want. CBS couldn't do that.
Yeah but they always had first choice of game. Maximizing their bang for their buck. They're still in the same time slot, with only 14 games, and dont even get first choice. Plus, i dont think they get a primetime slot at all anymore. All while paying more.

CBS is a business so if they can sell ads vs what they paid for the rights….
Well, that phrase is true, but ads are typically paid for based on how many people see them, which is a simple concept that even a mongoloid could understand, sorry it is beyond your comprehension….

How dare you look at things unbiased on this board

There really aren't that many marquee Big Ten matchups outside of OSU Michigan. that conference just isn't fun.
SEC has so many quality matchups every weekend.
Big Ten is boring football/snoozefest.

They’ll really like that USC Michigan number then. Fake boardroom that only cares about ratings and not RoR will be thrilled.
Or are you under the impression they could’ve got 1st choice SEC broadcast again for the same money they paid for B10? lol, not a chance. (Nevermind that their B1G deal also added the inventory of the first two weeks that they never had with the SEC).

Trying to act like the SEC is WAY deeper into conference play compared to the big 10

Tennessee v Arkansas 730 ABC - not even a regular series in SEC football - outdrew - the inaugural Big1t8en home game for Washington hosting the conference's best brand and defending CFP champion Michigan - Fox 730 window -

Where they messed up is the week-to-week losses. USC/Michigan was reasonably competitive with marquee SEC matchups, but the telling number is that 2023’s worst-rated game—Missouri/Arkansas—still had considerably better viewership than any of the games so far besides USC/Michigan.
When you have to share the marquee matchups with other networks, you really need a productive baseline week-to-week. The Big Ten doesn’t have the depth needed to produce 3-4 moderately compelling matchups week-to-week like the SEC does.
They goofed bad.

The problem with this story is that (1) the SEC’s worst matchup last year still easily overperformed all your non-marquee matchups so far, and (2) CBS has to share the marquee matchups with FOX. You can’t count on OSU/Oregon to make up for OSU/Akron when CBS doesn’t even get to show OSU/Oregon.

This is this week's B1G games. Pretty dull stuff in my opinion other than Ohio State/Oregon. I might catch some of the USC/Penn State game but I am a football junkie and I want to see if USC can get back in the winning column vs. a team that somewhat resembles the Michigan team they beat.

10/12 Washington Iowa

Dude, keep cherry picking your arguments based on one game or one or two weeks, you just keep on trying,….why don’t you go buy stock in CBS.
