She passed an LSU player to be the all-time leading scorer in college basketball. And LSU fans have been telling the rest of us for a year now that both sports are exactly the same and on equal footing.

They aren’t even undefeated in WBB. They didn’t even finish 1st in the Big10

If they make it far enough they’ll get embarrassed by South Carolina just like against LSU last year. She is an incredible player but it’s a team sport

Simple….comparing her with Pistol is Absoutely Stupid
This. What would Pistol Pete's score have been if he had the 3 point shot rule when he played?

Are other sports message board destroying the poor girl, or is this place just "special" with one too many nutjob jealous LSU fans, the ones who think that "the only reason why women's college basketball gets three times the rating of college baseball and the only reason why their popularity isn't comparable is because ESPN has an agenda and ESPN is evil... Pete Maravich better. Angel Reese better. Corndog corndog"
Or is it even deeper than that?

Watch the ESPN special on Christian Laettner, and you'll see similarities. It' boils down to envy.

Media has fueled it. Instead of talking about her scoring and how fantastic it is, they have gone heavy into her breaking Pistol Pete's record. She didnt play mens basketball so there was no record there for her to break.
I think her flopping is also another point of contention.

I echo Lonnie Utah on this and those that said it is comparing apples and oranges. What would Pete have scored if there was a 3pt shot back then? Each record stands on it's own.

By all accounts she has everything that this board is looking for – she's pleasant and humble.

(1.) Actually, she has displayed past actions that did not portray her as 'pleasant and humble.' Flopping, bumping other players and fans to instigate crap, and holding up fingers to the crowd, etc.
Doesn't sound humble to me. Now, she may be playing it different now, I don't know.
(2.) Presenting one's own right to an opinion and actual real-life facts that actually occurred -
(e.g. - recognizing that Clark:
(a.) has the Women's NCAA scoring record, but not the Men's.
(b.) played four years as opposed to three.
(c.) had the benefit of the three-point line.
is not congruent in any way whatsover with with being 'jealous' or a 'nut-job.' (whether that be Louisiana State, Kentucky, Arkansas, Alabama, or any other SEC school's posters on this board who have made similar comments). Nor does it indicate 'disdain' of any kind. One would have to know the inner thinkings of the 'disdainor' I presume.
YOUUUUUUUU sir, seem to be that.
Ohhhh, and BTW, the COLLEGE BASKETBALL career scoring records do not belong to either Pistol Pete or Caitlin, but to Pearl Moore of a small college in Florence South Carolina - over 4,000.

Yes, Pearl Moore scored 4061 points while playing for Francis Marion University before there was a 3pt shot and before the NCAA ran women's basketball ( I believe it was run by something called the AIAW back in the 1970s)

Comparing Clark to Pistol Pete is like comparing the church league MVP with Jordan.

She is one of the best women's college basketball players ever.
She is also an insufferable whiny flopper.

According to an article, former LSU coach Dale Brown says he charted all the shots Maravich took during his 3 years at LSU. Saying that if there was a 3pt line then Maravich would have averaged 57pts a game and his final tally for 3 years would have been 4731pts. No discredit to Clark, but Maravich was something else all together.

I can tell you why the disdain exists- sexism! They cannot stand that a strong female has broken one of their sacred records.
