Your best qb sat on the bench, he'd only been cleared for a month prior to that.

Our best qb was Jamie Newman, and the other guy wasn’t ready for full speed SEC football until later in the season.

You are paying smart to recruit. The rest is a crapshoot.

How does Nick Saban keep kids playing never any opt outs?

By playing in relevant postseason games.

At the end of the day, coaches and players are generally going to do what's best for themselves. Jalen Hurts left Alabama to go be the starter at Oklahoma rather than a backup with the Tide.

There's a saying that people are only as loyal as their options - and there's a lot of truth to it. It's easier to be faithful to your wife when you're an Average Joe with few options vs. a handsome billionaire who could bed a different OT 9.5 every night.

The fans in the stands are the Average Joes. The players and coaches are the ones with all the options in front of them.

Why are UGA fans so confidant that Newman was any good? Personally I'm not taking Kirbys word for it, he thought Fromm was better than Fields and started Stetson over Daniels. Wake was loaded at wr for Newman and he was average.

Feel free to look for threads about Newman last year to see why we were confident in him.

He was in 2018, and Kirby did what most every other coach would have done in 2018.

A healthy Bennett was good enough to beat most teams, and Daniels wasn’t an option until later in the season.

This year will be pretty telling for us IMO. How badly will keeping Grantham hurt us?

He finally gets to work with an ideal QB for his system.

His recruiting has not been elite, but despite that he has drastically increased the number of blue chips on our roster and has hit some home runs in the portal. No excuses now.

His arrogance worries me most. The unwillingness to make necessary moves, like firing Grantham, are moves that take coaches down.

Will be 1-3 against UGA after next season. Same as Ron Zook.

I’ve had to listen to my Florida brethren spout off about playing the eventual National champ close the last 2 seasons. THIS IS NOT AN ACCOMPLISHMENT. Nor does it signify a great coach. We’ve won 3 titles in my lifetime and our fans are now celebrating losing close games. The list of teams who played the eventual National champion close is long and unheralded. It means absolute dick. 4-8 Vandy loss to 2006 National Champion Florida by 6 points - so they’re a good team? 7-5 Texas lost to 2019 LSU by 7 points. Hang the fricking banners. It’s unbelievable what two shitty coaches have done to Florida fans.

The season ended badly, but writing him off so flippantly is probably not the best idea. If there's a Cam Newton style QB who goes to Florida, I really like our chances.

A Generational QB who led one of the least complete overall teams ever to a national title? They don’t grow on trees. Hell, I even like Kirby’s chances with that guy at QB. Even he couldn’t frick up that QB situation (maybe).
The problem with that mindset is Mullen also doesn’t recruit at that level at QB. For being such a QB guru (which I admit he is), he has yet to actually pull 5 Star generational talent to Florida at the QB position.

Oh, and replacing Grantham.

He didn’t. After having the worst defense in program history. What does that tell you about Mullen as the guy in charge of our program that he won’t get rid of the biggest cancer in the program?

Georgia played their scout team QB and a dozen scrubs and Flarder still struggled for most of the game.
But that game didn't count.

He was within a whisker of beating the greatest team ever in the SECCG.

Calm down. He's a complete trashy disingenuous douche bag (would be fitting in jorts) who likes to start brawls on the field but he will win.

Getting Gilbert recently confirms he will continue down this path.

I say No. He’s a good coach, but can’t put his pride and arrogance aside which is why he will never get it done and make the playoffs at any school he coaches.

negagators need to take it to the Gator board. How some folks have short memories...geez. Yeah I believe Mullen will be successful. The story was he couldnt recruit and thats BS we finished 10th in the country, add the transfers (they arent included in recruiting rankings) and we have a top 4 or 5 class.

He has been at UF 3 yrs and inherited limited talent at many positions...well, he has gotten some reinforcements. The people who are so critical of him dont even know the roster and the frosh/sophs ready to help us. The best motivator is the bench and we will finally have enough talent to warm the bench for those that dont perform or wont.

Mullen is better than you're giving him credit for. Let's not forget he had fricking MS STATE. I repeat MS STATE ranked number one albeit after many years of him being there, and not for very long. His ceiling is pretty high. Once he has all his pieces and system in place, I actually think he will be the East's team to beat. Florida can recruit itself when there's a reason. As douchey as he is, give him time and he will bring results.

His 3 best players last year committed to the previous HC and his team in year 4 will probably be worse than year one.

If it wasn't for McElwains players and transfers,God knows where the program would be with Mullen
