re: Final Fantasy 13

The FF13 trilogy is the worst of all the Final Fantasy mainline entries imo. Maybe you enjoy them, some people do. But they did absolutely nothing for me.

This x1000. I really wanted it to do well. The combat was so much more engaging than WoW. The group content was a lot of fun imo. Dungeons and bosses were much more challenging on average than what WoW or other mmos were offering. Unfortunately the rest of the game was about as fun as licking sandpaper.

Regular everyday mobs in a random zone could easily kill you if you weren't paying attention, interrupting damaging skills, rolling out of the way of attacks. That was cranked up to 10 in most dungeons and boss fights. This level of difficulty is great for group content and raids. It was extremely tedious for questing and grinding though. Still, I wish the game hadn't fizzled out so quickly.

Ever since experiencing the "magic" of WoW (for me, that was from Vanilla through Wotlk, Cataclysm and beyond mostly changed things for the worse imo), I've been waiting for another mmo game to recapture and expand upon that experience. Sadly, every other mmo that I've tried has failed to recreate that experience for me. Probably no other ever will. C'est la vie.

Sorry for the long post. Just had a moment of nostalgia. I don't encounter many other people who played WildStar or even know what WildStar was.
Typically Dragon Quest games have special enemies like "Metal Slime" that give tons of xp, if you're concerned about progressing more quickly or completing everything. Once you encounter these, you can just farm these. You can see enemies on the overworld in 3D mode, which makes things easier.

Pro tip - if you do plan to play this game and want to spend less time grinding for rare items etc, near the start of the game, you will fight Bunicorns. These enemies drop an item called Bunny Tail. These increase item drop chances by 1% each. You can equip two per character, 4 in your party, so 8% increase in drops if you farm for these. I got all 8 in just a few hours, using increased battle speed.

I enjoy JRPGs, but I don't love grinding for insane amounts of time for rare item drops. The initial time investment to get bunny tails will make the rest of your playthrough much more enjoyable.
Extremely good Dragon Quest game if you enjoyed other entries in the past. There is a fair amount of grinding if you're wanting to max/complete everything etc. But it's not a requirement to enjoy the game. Depending on which version you are playing, there is a battle speedup option, from normal, to fast, to ultra fast. This helps tremendously with grinding.

The original version on PS4/3DS versions only had normal battle speed.

The definitive editions for Switch, Xbox, Playstation all include fast (2x speed) and ultra fast (4x speed) battle speeds.
Wonder what Cam is wearing these days

For me it would definitely be Broncos vs Titans in Denver. I can't remember the exact year or month, I think November or December of maybe 2014. I'd have to look at their schedule or find my ticket stub.

Either way brutally cold. In teens or the single digits if I remember right. Pretty sure single digits with the wind chill. Is there somewhere online to find such information for NFL games, temp at kickoff?
Saban has a radio show every Thursday. Why not call in and ask him those tough arse questions that everyone else is afraid to ask? Let me know when you plan on doing this, I'd love to listen to him explain himself to you.
Concerning Alabama's side of things, the issues are larger than just Milroe, but Milroe is a pretty damn big issue. I know it's only his second start and I'm sure the Texas game was intimidating for him and probably rattled his nerves, especially when he was making mistakes. It felt like as the game went on, he began forcing plays that were just bad. Maybe he learns from it and improves, but 33 yards passing in the first half or whatever it was, is pretty telling that there's a qb issue. Not taking anything away from Texas - they beat us straight up, no gimmicks, no excuses - but Milroe certainly didn't do a whole lot to help us win it either.
It's absolutely generational. I agree with you 100% though, the transition between NES to SNES was mind blowing at the time. I still vividly remember Christmas morning, walking out of my bedroom and into the living room to see that my dad had hooked up the SNES and had Super Mario World on the screen. I couldn't contain my excitement, and the SNES is still my favorite system. Primarily for nostalgia reasons, but it still to this day has very solid rpg games as well as a few action/adventure games that hold up well even by today's standards.

Another big wow moment for me was the PS1. Having true 3D games was crazy at the time. I think my first experience with a truly 3D game was at an electronics store (the name escapes me atm) that had a 3DO on display with a playable demo of some flying shooter game. Can't remember all the details just remember it being a 3DO and young me being blown away by it.

I also agree that the 360 was a game changer in terms of setting the tone and expectations of what to expect out of a modern gaming console. Loads of great games during that era.

Do people still use Dish? And if so, why
That to me is the real problem here. "Culture". Entitled pieces of shite that will literally kill you for being "disrespected". This culture bullshite is really shitty for everyone involved. From all the victims derived from this attitude, to the kids who grow up to become someone like Miles, and all the bystanders who have to be exposed to this culture bs. Kids are exposed to this shite at a young age, and this "culture" is sadly something that many young kids grow up with and end up using as a way of life.

Like all the garbage that Travis Kelce for the Kansas City Chiefs was spewing after winning the superbowl: "Next time the Chiefs say something, put some respect on our name". And then we proceed to watch them shotgun beers and "dance" during the parade. Or crotch sniffing superbowl halftime shows. Yeah, real role models. Definitely deserving of all the respects. Respect is supposed to be earned, not given when demanded. I wish society would stop propping up this attitude.

If you want to pretend to be tough and do stupid shite, do it at home, off air, with your own group of cultured friends. I can't understand how we have devolved into accepting this garbage and why we push it onto our children. It's only going to get worse if we keep on this path. And to top it off, you can't hardly even have a discussion about it out loud without constant deflection and pushback because you may be racist or bigoted or any number of othed adjectives when it comes a lot of the core issues. I'm honestly worried about our future.

re: JRPGs For Those New To The Genre

I'd be interested in what your rec would be then. Chained Echoes is a no brainer for new and old fans alike of traditional, turn based jrpgs. I've been playing rpgs games since childhood, starting with the original DQ1 and FF1 on NES way back when. Chained Echoes is a fantastic jrpg game. I'd recommend that to a new player any day of the week. What I wouldn't recommend is something like Pillars of Eternity or the likes. THAT is the type of game for the "1000s of hours" club as you put it. Another great series of rpg games nonetheless, but not a traditional Jrpg.

If you mean being in the same room with many other people having a get together, then you'd be correct. I am allowed to give an opinion on it, idiot.

lol

It's pretty awful
I'd prefer a FF6 remake personally. Or 4 even, although it did get the DS remake which wasn't bad imo. 6 is right up there with 7 and 9 for me.
Probably over 50% of the people you come across in public are intoxicated to some degree. A lot of it is prescribed. Most people seem to be able to handle themselves while under whatever influence. Not sure how you end up in the head space of feeling like you should be banging on doors though.
