I mean yea, but that O-line coach also had a great offense two years ago pre-national championship.

I hope you're joking. no really, you HAVE to be joking.

Let me know when you find "LSU" by scrolling down…yes, keep scrolling…no, scroll some more...

So I'm guessing your line item expectations are.
1. QB gets better over the year.
2. Offense looks fluid and doesn't get in ruts like 2012.
3. You have confidence that you can score when you absolutely need to.

My expectations are Mett looks more consistent all of next year like he did towards the end of last year. The offense isn't in the bottom third of CFB like it has been the last 2 seasons and that I cant call out every 3rd down play we're going to run before the snap.

offense looked damn good in 2011.

See link above, flat out wrong.

i thought lsu's offense was plenty acceptable under lee. the defense put them in a lot of great opportunities though and even scored a good bit for them. once they went to JJ though the offense basically died.

Probably....I won't judge the hire til I see what he does but it's a kinda meh hire IMO

I think people just let the name value or the NFL value go to their heads...he was a below average OC in the NFL and that's why he got fired

I think it's an ok hire but nothing to blow me away

How can you say that's flat out wrong?

13th in national scoring average and 1st in the SEC?

Crowton - sucked once he lost Flynn and RP and was forced to develop a 3rd and 4th string QB to SEC starters

Krags - was never able to fully perform his duties after being diagnosed with Parkinsons

I was talking about this with an LSU fan yesterday... we usually agree on football matters despite our differing loyalties, and this is what we decided:

a) it's good that there is a change, and that alone is a really good step in jumpstarting the offense. Even if Cameron was stale at the Ravens, there is a good chance that the different dynamic will translate into success. Chavis was thought to be stale by some, and for the most part, he has been AMAZING for LSU.

b) the concern is that LSU's offense has been stale, so in hiring a "name" coach that might mean more of the same, it's a "safe" move vs hiring an up and coming young dynamic person (Like Kingsbury-ish).

c) We don't know how much autonomy the new coach will have. Since Miles is an offensive guy, there is no telling how much control he'll give up, or what he's been calling in the past.

d) So, it is reasonable to be really excited and optimistic, but also have a nagging worry that it's going to be more of the same.

Averaged the #10 offense in the NFL at San Diego, #16 at Baltimore

Those numbers show that both teams underachieved immensely on offense considering the amount of offensive talent on those teams. Those Chargers teams had the best RB in the NFL, the best TE in the NFL and Drew Brees at QB yet they never finished higher than 10th in total offense. The Ravens also had plenty of talent with Flacco, Rice, Boldin, Mason, Heap, Torrey Smith and McGahee yet they never finished higher than 13th in total offense. Cameron has always been a mediocre OC wherever he's been.

Generally speaking, NFL coaches are far superior to their counterparts in the NCAA. That is why they are in the NFL and not NCAA.

Ultimately, only time will tell

86th ranked offense, EIGHTY SIXTH. Look at my link, that shows only what the offense itself did. Did you watch us at all that year? Our defense and special teams scored us a TON of points. Our offense was a 3 and out machine. We hardly EVER sustained drive and got a TD out of them. If we had the ball on our own side of the field it was almost a guaranteed punt or in some lucky cases a FG that year.

JHC, did you watch the NCG? We almost never crossed the 50 yard line.

You do realize our defense set up short fields for us all year in 2011, right? It was mostly Mathieu.
