More proof of the integrity of Saban. Les would let his players "vote" instead of punishing in a way to help the young man instead of what was best for his W/L columns.

You realize hill was suspended right?

Look for the next LSU athlete that gets into trouble to get hammered by the law since the Louisiana judicial system is receiving national attention for preferential treatment of athletes.

Bama players get off, La looks bad, makes example out of next LSU arrest.

Saban wins again damnit

Yep - just commenting on something else.

I'm just surprised no one is jumping all over this. There are some serious allegations being thrown on "one of the two players".

One thing is for sure...with a control freak like Saban...nothing will be left up to a team vote.

Saban uses a team elected leadership council to handle a lot of internal discipline. Although, I'd suspect he is retaining this issue at his level given the sensitivity.

That said, sensitive issue or not, I doubt he gives two shits if anyone agrees or disagrees with whatever punishment he hands out, assuming his actions are not already final on an issue where all charges were dropped

Don't look too long. Doubt it happens.

agree. i have no idea why he said that. only thing i can think is that he didn't want to throw the PD under bus and say "it wasn't a winnable case due to lack of evidence as a result of improper search so there was no evidence I could submit in court".

which has the whole country laughing at his office.

people in SEC states are paying attention. no one else cares about this. at all.

I have no idea how strict gun laws are in Alabama, but this can't be good for whoever they're talking about.

I wouldn't be surprised if the reaction to the dropping charges played into this.

It didn't. According to documents obtained by a news outlet in LA, the suspension took place effective 5/19 - the day Saban met with the players about this. There is a document that outlines the punishment for both.

Agreed. The issue will be whether the player in question knew that the gun was stolen when he took possession.

There is a pretty wide gap between "I know who I got it from, so if it was stolen it had to have been him," and "I knew he had stolen it when I got it from him."

"One of the defendants in the vehicle did make a statement to the law enforcement over there regarding how long that person had been in possession of that weapon and who they got that weapon from, " said Baldwin County Sheriff Huey Mack Jr. The sheriff says the defendant that made that statement was either Cam Robinson or Laurence Jones.

These two statements are not the same.
He can't remember who said it? Wierd.

Can't really tell much from that article other than that one of the two players told law enforcement how long whoever had the gun had been in possession of the gun and who they got it from.

Didn't we already know that someone in the car was in possession of gun that was reported stolen? They obviously got it from someone - question is whether they stole it, new it was stolen, or got it from someone without knowing it was stolen. That article doesn't really add much to clear that up so we are right back where we started.

There's a lot of "ifs" in this situation right now. Hell, it could be one of the other two passengers in the car had stolen the gun and one of the players knew about it.

You do know I'm not inferring that from the statement you posted, correct? In the article it says:

"The two "Bama" players were in a car with two other men and that stolen gun is now the "smoking gun" in this case. The gun was stolen in Baldwin county and the Sheriff says one of the two players knows who stole the gun."

Again, I'm taking it directly from the article that one of the two players knows who stole the gun. At least according to what the Baldwin County PD reported.
