And he'd heard nothing of Kelly to the Wolverines. Nothing. What he is hearing that unless the school can guarantee Hairball that he won't get sanctions/show cause from the NCAA, he's like going to jump. He said the scuttlebutt is that's going to happen and Harbaugh is gone. He seemed OK with that actually.

What he HADN'T heard is Kelly to Michigan. In fact, he was a bit shocked when I said it. "Why would we want to bring in an outsider like that?" He said right now all the money is on OC Sherrone Moore who's already on staff and successfully coached the team in Harbaugh's absence.

ah…So UM would do everything it can to make a transition form it’s NC winning coach as seamless as possible? The AD at Bama should have consulted with UM’s on decision like this.

I get the smack talk, but I'd say that since Michigan just won the Natty they are equal programs at least...

On a scale of 1 to nuclear meltdown, what if Michigan talked Saban out of retirement and he heads there? What would the Updyke nation do?

Exactly. Since Bo Schembechler retired in 1989, they have had 5 HCs. Rich Rod was the only one they hired outside of the Michigan coaching tree, and he only lasted 3 years. They only hire "Michigan men". It's what they do. Moore will be promoted if Harbaugh leaves, and that's probably smart because they will retain more players.

Kelly to Michigan is a rumor started by an Alabama fan as a desperate attempt to make their #1 rival as miserable as Alabama fans are right now.

All the points everyone makes about Deboer ARE BIG TIME VALID concerning this guy.

You bring in a TEMP to run Michigan? You are asking for trouble the second he loses to Ohio State. All the tears and love will mean nothing if and when he loses to Texas.

This has potential cluster written all over it.

LSU is not a rival of Alabama. We've been denying LSU that status for 17 years and counting.

Because it's just a rumor Billy Liucci started.

He was pissed that Kelly was flipping so many of A&M's recruits so here we are.

Same as when he said LSU was trying to hire Jimbo because he wanted Aggies to feel better about that ridiculous extension.

Michigan is going to promote Sherrone Moore to HC if Harbaugh bolts. The players love him and other coaches love him. The key will be if they can keep Minter as the DC.

Or...

What if they did get Kelly and that gave Saban the opportunity to come back to LSU.

The only way Kelly would leave would require a string of unlikely circumstances:

1. Kelly being unhappy at LSU (this does not appear to be the case)
2. Harbaugh leaving
3. His leaving NOT due to severe sanctions, as Kelly would be very unlikely to take a spot on a team about to get hammered by the NCAA
4. Michigan then ponying up to outbid LSU (Michigan's pockets are probably deeper, but LSU's no G5 or low-tier P5 school)

That being said, maybe Kelly's got a sick relative who lives in Michigan he needs to take care of or something.

Yea hiring Sharone will last 3yrs.There`s alot more to running a college program than coaching on saturdays. To
be a good HC is like being a CEO of a corporation.Very few
guys have all of the attributes to be successful on the
highest level. And the worst thing you can do is hire a HC
because the players love him, that hardly ever works after
the 1st year.
