I was expecting a 6-7 win season before opening game, so yesterday showed me mostly what I expected from Auburn.

We played better on the road than we have in years.

Bo has improved - he actually checks down from time to time - but has a long way to go to being a difference maker.

We have as solid a running back corps as you could ask for.

Receivers still look Malzahn-era standard. We have one solid playmaker and a glut of short guys who can't catch a cold.

Offensive line is playing above their heads, which still puts them B-level in the SEC.

Defense is going from a 4-3 man to a variable 3-4 zone and the growing pains are showing. We are pretty rough in the secondary. Linebackers are mostly solid, D-line can't get pressure.

Mike Bobo has clearly made progress with Nix, which I suspect is why he was hired, but he is lacking as a playcaller. That 4th and 2 fade was a textbook Bobo play and the stupidest playcall of the game, given our backfield. I hope he's either a champ of a recruiter or we find a new OC next season.

I expect us to improve. Harsin is a real football coach. We showed up prepared to play in a hostile environment, played a relatively clean game and fought to the final whistle. I could never say that of Malzahn teams. His players would have been pushing and shoving and taking plays off before the 4th quarter started.

Our oline is average right now. We can’t run the ball like in the years past, which forces us to throw the ball more. Pass pro isn’t great either and rattler tries to escape the pocket to quick. Defense played better yesterday, but we’re on the field far to much. LR teams have started slow the last few years and come on mid season. Hoping that’s the case, if not, we’ll lose a couple games.

Dominant front 7, good safeties but no depth. Corners are burnable and if front 7 can't dial up pressure they will give up some big plays.

Offense very efficient - JT super accurate and deep ball is a lot better than last year. Bowers will end up being the best TE UGA has ever had - when Washington comes back this team is going to be very tough to match up with. Concerned about our OLine, specifically interior push. We better figure that out soon.

I agree with this.

Kirby doesn’t know how to stick with what’s working and just step on someone’s throat and crush them. He’s gotta get all cutesy and change up qb and throw the offense out of rhythm. Let the backup throw an INT for no reason. We shoulda put 60 on SC.

Edit*** otherwise I think our team looks great especially given what we’ve lost on offense to injury. Defense is unbelievable.

We are what I thought we'd be preseason.
Average qb play. Elite RB play. WRs solid but not spectacular. O-line playing pretty good for their talent level- they won't be able to create much against top SEC d-lines. Play-calling seems better, but still a few Gus-like head scratchers.
LBs are strength of the defense. D-line is solid, not elite. Secondary was disappointing yesterday with multiple blown coverages. Play-calling was questionable as PSU consistently picked apart the zone coverage schemes.

Overall I see hope going forward, but we are going to take some beatings before we return to contender status.

We are who they thought we were.

There are reasons for optimism, but we need to show we can learn from our mistakes.

Still thinking 6-6 though. Will have to beat any 3 of LSU, Arky, MSU, SC and TAMU. Probably won’t come close to Ole Kiff, UGa and Bama this year.

Defense is as good as I've seen in 46 years. Our running game is an achilles that will eventually get this team in trouble.

And 11 penalties, can’t remember when we’ve ever had that many in a game before.

Johnson is a good young quarterback
Boutte and Stingley are outstanding
The offensive line is average at best
Running game was bad until late in the game
Getting some sacks against the cream puffs but will need to see if that holds up against better teams

I like many of the players but my skepticism about O runs so deep I think we lose a lot of games to coaching incompetence and poor preparation

I thought we were prepared last night and we looked like a team that has been coached. We were not intimidated by the environment and we didn’t have a ton of penalties (45 yds). But we couldn’t get any pressure on their QB. Can’t let a guy complete 28/32 and expect to win on the road. I don’t think we blitzed at all until the 2nd half.

We have a solid run defense and a solid running game so we have some things to build on but our WR corps is weak. Not one receiver who can stretch the field.

Tank and Jarquez are the best 1-2 punch we’ve had at RB in a long time. Maybe since Caddy/Ronnie in the early 2000’s.

Bobo had two inexplicable calls.… The “trick play” that we ended up fumbling to open the second half which I thought was so unnecessary since we were running the ball so well.… And the 4th down fade route call on the goal line. Why not run Tank or Bo there?

I wanted to bitch about the refs and then checked the box score only to see that Bama had more penalties than Florida so I quietly decided to shut the frick up.

We are one injury away from the worst oline in the SEC.

Our best run blocker was gimpy vs Colorado and out vs New Mexico and it showed.

Our defense is vicious.

Our defense is terrible, our OL isn’t any better, quarterback doesn’t have arm talent or field vision, and our special teams need to be overhauled. I hope we end up with a winning record.

Kentucky was probably gonna get ranked this week; but not after yesterday...

The reality was we probably weren't getting ranked even then. We always get shite on in the polls. Just look at the year we won the Citrus and beat Penn State and Penn State still finished ranked over us. Same with Virginia Tech.

Either way, the defense just isn't great. But I've also seen previous Kentucky teams overlook opponents of a similar caliber and frick around and lose. So I'm going to just consider it one of those weeks and move on. If the shite continues against South Carolina, then we can start talking about an all systems failure.

Offensive play calling suspect, passing game needs help, DBs been getting lucky when they get burned. The last two QBs we’ve played have missed wide open receivers down field like it was their job.

It was a garbage Tech team. Hooker is not ideal or comfortable in this system yet. The Vols are not healthy or deep enough to compete this year.

QB's who can throw accurate deep balls are going to torch us. Jefferson has all the physical tools but unless the game slows down for him we will end up around 6-6.
