Yep. Born in Roopville and lived there a few years and then, I have been told, his family moved to Bremen.
That’s correct. His mother was named Polly Bragg and she sold Merle Norman cosmetics for years in Bremen. Keith’s signature sign off during the 1960’s was to announce the final score one more time and say “goodnight Mrs. Polly from.....(Los Angeles or Norman or Lincoln or Birmingham).

RIP Mr Jackson, you never tried to be bigger than the moment. In a world of fake, you were REAL!

Damn. To me he was pretty much the voice of college football in my youth. A great one for sure

Him calling the 2006 Rose Bowl (Texas vs USC) will always be a great memory.

His first college football game doing the play by play was at Clemson in 1966.

The sound you just heard was Alabama slamming the door on another national championship

So many great sports announcers leaving these days.
Keith Jackson is a black-and-white TV memory from my childhood.
While most of you remember him for his college football broadcasts, for some odd reason my memory of him is from Wide World of Sports.
A fun, steady voice in sports. Sad to see him go.

Seems like we lose a little piece of our childhood each day. RIP Keith Jackson.
