Boise St had a .913 win pct the 7 years prior to Harsin. The win pct dropped to .784 during his 7 year tenure. A drop of .129.
AU win pct the last 7 years .629. If AU win pct drops like Boise it would be .500 the next 7 years.

So does Auburn want to win the SEC each year or just make more appearances in the SECCG?

You got to get to Atlanta to play for the championship.

Harsin has won his conference in 4 of his 8 years as HC.

For comparison, Saban has won the SEC Championship 7 of his 14 years as Alabama HC in what is probably the most dominant run in CFB history.

Boise States football revenues DOUBLE that of the SECOND highest Mountain West Program. He has been driving a car in a horse raise.

He is now in a conference with at least 6 other teams with equal horse power and 6 more teams in the same ballpark. The only team he has insane advantage over (Vandy) he plays once every 6 years.

We are about to see what kind of coach he is.

ETA: For reference, from 2000-2013, BSU had 4 seasons with 3 or more losses. From 2014-2019, BSU matched that number.

I feel like it's hard to judge how good their coaches really are when they pour so many resources into the program compared to their competition.

The school was founded in 1932. They've only had 11 losing seasons since they started football in 1933 and 6 of those from from 1933 to 1946. Their last losing season was in 1997. They've always taken their football seriously.

Do we know if Boise was putting that revenue back into the football program or using it to fund the non-revenue sports?

BSU not using football money to improve football could explain why the BSU head Coach who is from Boise and played at BSU in addition to being an Assistant Coach for BSU left the program.

Of course it's going to football. Their other sports are trash. If Harsin was so upset about how much money they put into their program that he left he's a moron.

Are you sure about that, DR?
quote:

Football at Boise State operates at about $4.5 million in profit, and drives additional department revenue like donations. The sport directly generated about half the total athletics budget of more than $50 million for the budget year ending June 30, 2019. Those profits subsidize costs to field nearly every other team wearing blue and orange. Only football and men's basketball are profitable according to budget documents prepared for the State Board of Education.

No. You're still rustled and it shows. Be honest. I look forward to seeing what Hardin can do, but I doubt he lasts too long at Auburn.

Not even a little bit. I know trolling when I see it as compared to actual analysis. You guys have a new coach too, it will be interest to see how Pickman does in the West.

That's just like every single other school. Football funds everything else.

The vast majority of that money still goes right back to football which, again, is just like everywhere else.

MWC also is a lot weaker when he was there. They lost Utah, BYU, and TCU. Auburn took the first guy that said yes.

So if Boise was committed to building its football program, why would a dyed in the wool BSU Bronco leave BSU?

Err... They lost Utah and BYU before Boise joined. They lost TCU the year after Boise joined.

Boise was the Alabama of that conference. Harsin won't enjoy the talent advantage anymore. Will that matter? Who knows, but it surely won't help
