Here’s the stats for the new Auburn coach. Take from these numbers what you will.

Overall head coaching win/loss record: 76-24

2013: (Arkansas State) 7-5 (5-2) Sunbelt Champ.
2014: (Boise) 12-2 (7-1) Mountain West Champ
2015: (Boise) 9-4 (5-3)
2016 (Boise) 10-3 (6-2) Mountian West Div. Champ
2017: ((Boise) 11-3 (7–1) Mountian West Champ
2018: (Boise) 10-3 (7-1)
2019: (Boise) 12-2 (8-0) Mountain West Champ
2020: (Boise) 5-2 (5-0)

Total Conference Championships: 4 (out of 8 years as a head coach)

Bowl record: 3-2

From the small sample size vids I’ve seen, he reminds me of a tough talker like Chiz once was.

Like his system, teams are disciplined. How we fill out the staff is what will make or break him

that conference is a joke. paying over 20 million dollars for a coach who really hasn't proven shite is insane. They lost to San Jose State this year

Harsin is a better hire than I think most were anticipating Auburn making at this juncture, but I’m not sure his overall coaching record is a very good litmus test. BSU has more resources than any other Mountain West school, and likely more than several of them combined. It’s in a beautiful city, has a unique stadium, and better facilities than a lot of P5 schools. It would be a significant red flag if his record at BSU were any worse than that.

ETA: For reference, from 2000-2013, BSU had 4 seasons with 3 or more losses. From 2014-2019, BSU matched that number.

not near as much as Ed O for getting his shite kicked in against Leach's team. Barely fielded 50 without spring? I'm not too concerned.

What the hell does Mike Leach have to do with Auburn hiring Brian Harsin?

My big concern with Harsin would be recruiting. Boise State strikes me as a program that can get by on exceptional coaching. As we all know, recruiting is a necessity to compete at the level that Auburn wants to ( or I'd imagine so considering they fired a good but not great coach in Gus).

Discipline was never an issue under Gus. Not sure what you're reaching for but you missed.

Does it concern you that a guy who had substantially more talent than all of his competition was losing 3 games per year on average?

We accomplished more in 2019 that MSU ever will in their existence. 2 wins is a hell of a start though

Good post. I think most reasonable AU fans are wondering the same. We’ll see how he fills out the staff. Hopefully, he’ll make a splash or two with hires.

If he had been losing them to his "competition", i.e. other Mountain West teams, then yes, it would be a concern.

His BSU teams haven't lost a regular season Mountain West game since October 2018.

In the past 4 years (2017-20), he's lost fewer regular season conference games (2) than Nick Saban (3).
