Does it concern you that a guy who had substantially more talent than all of his competition was losing 3 games per year on average?

Lost 19 games at Boise and looks like only 9 came from in conference games. Doesn’t seem like all of the competition he lost to had “substantially more talent”

Harsin's OOC record is atrocious.

.700 OOC winning percentage at Boise
.550 OOC winning percentage at Boise vs P5 teams and BYU

That's encouraging for sure. Although, as a program, Boise is much better than any of their MWC counterparts. Auburn right now has declined past 3 SEC West teams, Florida, and Georgia. My concern (if I were an Auburn fan) would be can he right that wrong from a roster management perspective?

Chad Morris wouldn't win more than seven games a year at Boise State.

The Harsin hire is a lot better than Chad Morris which was a terrible hire.

Those are not good numbers. I'm honestly not sure why you posted this.

I'll make it simple: You believe Harsin is a shitty coach despite his .780 winning percentage because - why, exactly?

Find a post of me saying that Hardin is a shitty coach. I never said that. I said it was a bad hire, but that doesn't mean he is a shitty coach.

With the advantages he had over his peers at Boise, you guys needed a guy who won more like 85% of his games if you intend to compete with Sabans. I doubt Harsin lasts more than 3 years for you guys.

Sure, he will win you some games, but he will be spanked by Sabans every time. He will lose to other teams around the league as well. As we all know, beating Sabans is the metric your decision makers use.

No. You're still rustled and it shows. Be honest. I look forward to seeing what Hardin can do, but I doubt he lasts too long at Auburn.

Do you guys think that the Hardin hire may have been a bit of a stopgap hire?

I think he is an average to good hire. I think Auburn was just tired of Malzahn and when a coach gets to that 8-10 year seasons then it is time to make a change.

The same happened to Miles and Richt.

I think Gus likely pulled some Gus shite behind the scenes and pissed some people off.

This was a lateral hire at best and they wasted over 20 million just to go out and hire a guy for no telling how much more money on top of the 20 that isn't going to do any better. It makes no sense, honestly.

It really depends on Auburn's expectations. They fired a coach that won an SEC title. If they wanted to hire someone that was better then they have failed. For that amount of money, they should have kept him.

It sounds like they have an AD version of Jeff Long.

Auburn does have higher expectations than one SEC championship 7 seasons ago lol

So have Alabama, Georgia, and LSU all in the last 21 years.

Is a 7 year old SEC championship trophy supposed to make someone coach for life?

No but it also depends on the expectations of the school.

Two teams had the same record though. Unless one bad bowl game invalidates the whole season.

Btw win % in MWC:

Peterson: .826
Harsin: .833

Looks like Auburn has higher expectations than just beating Alabama ~40% of the time.

The guy has played in a conference championship game or won his conference during 7 of his 8 years as a HC.
