frick NIL, unlimited transfers, pro players coming back. I want COLLEGE football back. And anyone who thinks otherwise is a fricking moron!

Couldn’t agree more, but this a one year thing. Hopefully this shitshow finally pushes the federal gov to pass “Save College Sports Act.”

Absolutely.

It amazes me that some want to question whether these players are “worth it”. This is about the rights of the players deprived of their rights. Who they choose to play for is irrelevant. But, the fact that they want to play for Kiffin, rather than their former school, is a compliment to Lane.

Suck it Manbearsharkshit.

Many suspect this to be the hidden agenda.

Genuine question: how big of an impact are these players for LSU?

IMO not big enough for this shitshow to have been necessary

It's a jurisdictional issue. I don't believe the federal court in Alabama has jurisdiction over LSU or Kffin. It should be a slam dunk. If Sankey wants to refile the suit in federal court in Louisiana then be our guest. But the thing to remember about federal judges is that they are appointed. They don't have to worry about reelection.

I’m not an attorney either, but I did take business law…

If Louisiana Attorney General, Liz Mureill, files for a change of venue to a Louisiana Federal District Court, that decision will probably be made at federal appellate court level…

Since the SEC is suing the state of Louisiana and LSU, I think the odds are it ends up in a New Orleans Federal District Court… with the grant of a change of venue by appellate federal court decision.

If the case ends up in a NOLA Federal district Court, the SEC will probably lose…

If the change of venue is not granted and the case stays in a federal Alabama court, all bets are off…

While LSU can sign these players today, the SEC is attempting to make the long-term cost of doing so unbearable. If the SEC wins its federal lawsuit, or if the conference uses its internal bylaws, LSU's future ability to sign recruits could be devastated. SEC could attempt to dock LSU's NIL budget by up to 50% or limit future scholarship slots, crushing their ability to compete for top high school talent.

The lawsuit specifically names Lane Kiffin and accuses LSU of a coordinated campaign to target NFL roster cuts SEC files suit vs. LSU over school's intent to play pro athletes - ESPN. Allegations have surfaced that Kiffin directly contacted NFL staff (like Cleveland Browns coaches) regarding players Lane Kiffin, LSU sued by SEC. If the federal court finds Kiffin guilty of tampering with professional rosters, strict recruiting restrictions or coach suspensions could be handed down, crippling LSU’s ability to sign players.

Indiana won the title last year. That’s way more entertaining than anything the old system gave us.

Monken already admitted he was wrong about that.

I don't get celebrating this even if your team does benefit in the short term. This isn't good for the future of the sport. The precedent this sets in the court of law will get manipulated to no end going forward. Too busy looking at the trees to see the forest.

Naive belief. Lawyers will feast on this ruling in future hearings.

The NCAA screwed the pooch with their 5 for 5 ruling. Why were these 2022 players excluded?

The only NCAA class since 2018 that wasn't afforded 5 year.

The cutoff was going to be arbitrary regardless of when it was. It has to start somewhere. It doesn't matter what guidelines the NCAA tries to set if a local judge can just upend everything. This has to stop.

People want the NCAA to actually govern with authority then celebrate when they are completely undermined when they try to. It makes no sense.

This isn't even true. Before this you literally couldn't play 5 years without a redshirt of some kind. If you played 4 years, you were done.

Kind of hard to accuse Kiffin of this when the league’s commissioner can’t define what a professional athlete is exactly.

You’re also leaving out the judge’s own criticism of Sankey’s testimony: The SEC brought up rule 12.6. Sankey said it himself: the rules did not say that these players are excluded.

His own sworn testimony is going to damage their case at the Federal level.

They could have easily done it in February but wanted chaos. Most of these guys never goto the NFL if they know they're getting a 5th year.

By waiting until after the NFL draft they knew it would create this mess.. or maybe they're just that incompetent

Covid year, which is what the NCAA should have done here..blanket extra year across the board would have prevented countless lawsuits and litigation

Covid year
A global pandemic that completely altered an entire season of college football? Pretty easy to call those abnormal circumstances. The fact that you have to use this as your base argument kinda proves how much you're having to stretch the logic to make this make sense.

Why? The players got to play in normal seasons their entire careers and the rule change came after their last year of eligibility. They aren't owed anything.

Bc its patently unfair, some might call it discriminatory. Thankfully judges from across the nation agree

It's not unfair. They played within the restrictions that existed for the duration of their eligibility. It's not like they were in the middle of their senior seasons and the NCAA passed the rule with the caveat that it doesn't apply to the senior class. The season had been over for months. Hell, their classes had already graduated school entirely.

Does it suck that they happened to be the last men out the door before the new rules? Sure, but going as far as to call it discriminatory is beyond retarded. Should the teams that were left out of the playoffs the year before expansion have sued the NCAA for an automatic spot the next year?
