That's sad, considering what a poor 8-5 team that really was. The highlights of season were beating Bama and then the Ole Miss Meltdown which put the skids under Orgeron.
I remember USA Today praising Miss St for hiring Sylvester Croom, saying it was "groundbreaking" and praising the teams' diversity consciousness. What a joke that turned out to be.

I was there when America was introduced to Pat White and Steve Slaton. That sucked.
The comeback vs VT was fun.
The shootout vs Nebraska was just entertaining football. Murray threw for 450 and 5 TD against the #1 pass D in America.

I attended every BCS championship game that Saban got Bama to plus I went to the sugar bowl against Oklahoma after the 2013 season. Last year I got cheap tickets to the peach bowl against Washington. I will be in Atlanta for the FSU game and I am ashamed at how much that trip is costing me.

What happened back in 2005? Y'all looked like the best team in the land the first seven or eight games, then the loss to Florida, a bye week, a one point loss to Auburn, and then that Sugar Bowl shocker. Was 2005 the beginning of the end of the Richt era?

That's why "crowning jewel" is in sarcastic quotations. Croom was the worst head coach I've ever seen. I've heard people say," he was/is a good man though", but I've heard several(mostly black) of his former players personally say they can't stand that SOB. His hiring was the biggest farce in MSU history.
