Bowl games no longer matter

Unless you're in the final 4 , teams have no clue what their roster will be. In the next week hundreds of players will be in portal. Coaches will be leaving. I mean ALA will be missing their top players. Can't blame them.

The only reason they matter now is for the extra practice your allowed to have.

They haven’t mattered for a while now

They haven't for awhile

Nope. Exhibition games at best.
But they’ve always been that way, really

Saban told everyone this years ago

get rid of portal or get rid of meaningless bowls

Only 1 mattered in the BCS era.

Yep! No bowl games for all teams that went 6-6!

Unless you go 9-3 or better then these minor bowls are a waste of time for coaches, players and fans.

They are the same thing they have always been.
Society and it's need to distort reality for personal happiness is the change.

They are extremely valuable for any team because it gives you a few extra weeks of practice time, not to mention game experience for new players.
This is especially the case now that they've changed the red shirt rules so players can play in up to 4 games without losing it. So while people are claiming "opt out" and all that other shite, they at the same time overlook the valuable experience the rest of the team is getting.

They’re worthwhile for the extra practice, but at their core they’ve always been publicity events for the communities that host them.

With players holding out or declaring for portal etc etc, you aren't going to always have your best players playing in them.
Hell, last year not only did we have holdouts and injuries but we had guys not allowed to play because of Covid contact tracing. It was a shite showing.

Not really if players opt out of these minor bowls. Penn State had eight or nine players opt out mostly on defense and a few on offense.
You don't need a bowl for extra practice time. Just call up some players from a different program and play at a rink a dink high school stadium.

The main reason they matter is the 15 extra practices you get
