Which coach was better at getting "More with Less" ?

Gotta give it to Snyder. KSU had literally the worst historic overall record in D1 before he showed up. He had them in the top 25 consistently.

Bill Snyder by a mile. I love Leach but Snyder won actual championships.
I’ll never forget them beating the absolute frick out of Oklahoma in 2003 in the Big 12 title game. Up to that point people had been calling that Oklahoma team one of the best teams ever. And they beat them like they were a JV team 35-7.

Snyder.
No disrespect to Leach. But what Snyder built at KSU is unbelievable considering the program and the talent he had to work with.

Snyder. Period. How the heck do you make a winner of anything out of Kansas? Ron White covered this issue. All the fat ugly people migrating to California in the 1800s gave up and had sex..in Kansas. “Topeka!”

Snyder, he went to slightly higher levels.
Leach was much more entertaining though, so he's by far a favorite.

Snyder by a mile.
The pirate had Texas talent to recruit from.
Snyder had nothing. Manhattan kansas is a shithole.
He’s really one of the greatest college coaches in the history of the game.

Imagine what he would’ve done in the SEC. Made a football program out of a wasteland. A true leader.

All I'm going to say is Hugh Freeze could have recruited well there, and he wouldn't have needed to pay for it.

100%. And just in case he left any doubt after he did it the first time. He came out of retirement and fricking did it all over again. At the same resource strapped school, in the same shithole town without any great recruiting grounds nearby. And he won another title in his second go round.
And hes still kicking at 86, who knows, we may see a Round 3.

Snyder.
But, if Leach had gone to K St and stayed there forever, maybe we have a different story.
Snyder turned one of the historically horrible P5 teams in CFB history into a legitimate team.
Leach was an offensive genius that found ways to have success at multiple underperforming schools.
Close, but Snyder built the better program with less talent and resources.

In fairness to Leach: He won at 3 perennial sub-par programs (TTU, WSU, State)
Though, it should be noted that Snyder pulled K-State out of the gutter not once, but twice.

Mike Leach will always be my goat, but I often wonder how either would have done with a talent rich LSU roster.
Do more with less and then open the flood gates.

Leach was more entertaining and interesting. Also a solid innovator.
Snyder was more impressive.
