The fact that just about the only non-SEC school Cam was considering was Oklahoma should be enough to convict Newton in the court of public opinion. OU has gone looooooong stretches this past decade without even having an NCAA compliance officer and they are still fresh off of the Big Red Auto no-show job scandal when they took care of another QB. OU is the ultimate shitbag program and Cam's daddy knew they wouldn't hesitate to play some dirty reindeer games.

But I highly doubt those tapes exist.

Bell said he turned them over to the SEC last week.

If Oklahoma and Tennessee were to come out now and knowledge they were solicited by the Newtons and did not report it.

Could the NCAA punish them for not reporting the solictation? I would think they are required to report this.

One can only hope. Let's see all the good that can come of this now:

-AhBarn vacates all wins for this season
-LSU wins out and gets a shot at the BCSCG
-AhBarn ends up with at least a USCw punishment
-Chokelahoma and UTe both get punished for not fessing up
-Slive is forced to resign for dragging his feet
-An independent counsel determines that the reason the SEC delayed was due to too many Alabama residents being in the SEC offices, so they are moved to Nashville

The NCAA spokeswoman said: "The decision to rule a student-athlete ineligible is made by the university, not the NCAA. We do not suspend student-athletes. It is a school action. The university can then seek reinstatement on behalf of the student-athlete and reinstatement decisions are made by the NCAA."

If this is true then I just saw at the bottom of the screen on ESPN's crawler or ticker that Kanter from Turkey was ruled ineligible permanently with Kentucky who is a the #5 player in the up coming NBA draft, how can they rule him ineligible if they don't make Cam Newton
ineligible? It can not be a double standard in play here either they do or they don't. This is BS, "The decision to rule a student-athlete ineligible is made by the university, not the NCAA. She is just covering their asses for them.

The article said that the NCAA does not rule players ineligible, the school does. The NCAA then makes rulings on reinstatement. The NCAA is not going to do it, it is up to Auburn. The NCAA will later punish Auburn if they break the rules.

Exactly right he was ruled ineligible by the NCAA and what that lady said was faulse and all she is doing is covering their asses.

I do not understand why they ruled Kanter for Kentucky ineligible if they can not rule Newton ineligible? So yes somebody is lying.

Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant will remain suspended for the remainder of the football season for lying to NCAA investigators. The NCAA ruled Tuesday that the junior All-American will not be eligible to play until September 2010, possibly bringing his college career to an end if he enters the NFL draft.

you have absolutely NO PROOF of this. it is a cop out to say it. when someone gets caught for murder, is the response, "all people do shite like this"?. auburn has been busted 7 friggin' times! don't go comparing LSU who has been busted exactly zero times with a known multiple offender. i used LSU because i know their history but i could have named dozens of other schools which have no record.

I'll admit outright that one of the things driving my interest in this is AU's history of, um, not exactly following NCAA rules. The next thing is Cam Newtons history of, um, not exactly being an up-and-up fellow.

I don't know what happened in November '09/January '10, though I'm getting a clearer and clearer picture. But given the now on-the-record allegations about Cam Newton's second recruitment, anyone ignoring Cam's less-than-stellar history or AU's horrendous on-the-books reputation for NCAA infractions is, quite frankly, either fiddling while Rome burns or being willfully disingenuous.

Yeah, the NCAA has already gathered all relevant information and said Newton is good to go. You're absolutely right, there actually isn't even an investigation going on anymore.

I feel bad for the Auburn fans if this is all true. The thing that strikes me as being odd is:

quote:

After Newton committed to Auburn, another source said an emotional Cam Newton phoned another recruiter to express regret that he wouldn't be going to Mississippi State, stating that his father, Cecil, had chosen Auburn for him because "the money was too much."

My question is, why would Newton feel comfortable telling this to a MSU recruiter unless MSU was at least playing along in the bidding war? Surely he can't be this dumb? It at least seems to me the only way he would feel comfortable saying that to a MSU recruiter is if they also offered money and simply got outbid because he wouldn't think that they would say anything if they had a hand in it as well at risk of self-implication. Logical?
