Actually it could have happened last year with OSU and ND. If OSU had chosen to accept the bowl probation last year instead of this year, you would of had OSU and ND in the BCSNC game.

Even without the streak, the SEC will still be dominant for quite a while. Talent, $$$, and interest in the teams in the league will keep SEC tops for a Long long time....

The biggest threat I see is being left out of the championship game. A year from now this won't matter so much. But say A&M or Alabama go undefeated this year, but so do Louisville, Oregon, and Ohio State, which is all very possible. Who gets in? If it's Bama that's undefeated then they're probably in based on past accomplishments (and rightfully so, in my opinion. Shut up, Bama). If A&M goes undefeated and Alabama loses 1 more, then... eh. I'm not sure we get in under those circumstances, and we're the new Auburn '93.
A preemptive STFU for everybody: there's plenty on the plate to worry about short of the NC. I have no idea how Sep 14 or the rest of the year will work out. But I can see the SEC being screwed.

I think that SEC Network is going to be huge...especially if they make it part of the ESPN package to providers and charge a dollar or so more.

well we'll be top 2 or 3... the ACC just needs to play better football and get some breaks in baseball... and maybe if they added UConn for their womens' hoops...

I don't get it. You're saying Mississippi State or Ole Miss should win the national championship every year?

If one school got all their 4/5 star talent...they would be in that conversation.

Our own programs going on probation is the biggest threat.

if they're good, that means they're stealing top talent from LSU and Alabama without the capability to win NCs themselves...
so instead of 11-1 LSU and 12-0 Bama against 5-7 Miss and Miss Stake, you'll have 4 teams at 9-3 or 10-2

The 8 team playoff. Autobids for major conference champs will fortify the FSUs of the world and make them relevant for winning their shitty conference.

I think OSU will get crushed in a title game just like ND got crushed. The reason has very little to do with OSU and has more to do with who they play each week. The consequence of playing shitty defenses every week is that your offense falls into bad habits in scheme, playcalling, position coaching (and coaches), and player development. You learn you can get away with things against Mochigan State's or Wisconsin's defense--regardless of how high they are ranked when you play them--that you would not have gotten away with if you played Alabama or LSU's defense--regardless of how lowly ranked they may be when you play them.
Playing bad defenses denies you the opportunity to learn. To adapt. To improve. To evolve. You go up against good defenses regularly, you learn what doesn't work, you learn how physical and fast you have to be, you learn which position coaches are REALLY bad, what plays are poorly designed. You have opportunities to try things out until you get it right. In other words, you get to improve.
All of this of course applies for the other side of the ball.
IMO, this is because of recruiting. The caliber of athlete is better in the SEC, so things that shouldn't work don't. OSU is capable of recruiting at an elite level, but most of their conference cannot say they are even close. Urban Meyer has recognized this and called out the rest of the Big Ten to step up their game. Until that happens, we will continue to see lopsided championship and bowl games.
