Their hope should be that the SEC eventually destroys itself from within a la old SWC style.

The SWC's main problem was that it was for all intents and purposes a one-state conference.

It never had schools but in three states (Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma; LSU was in discussions to be a charter member but never joined) and after 1925 (when what is now Oklahoma State left) it never expanded outside Texas.

Arkansas' departure in 1991 was the final blow. (So maybe that's the biggest threat: Arkansas leaving for the Big 12. )

My expansion suggestion from a few years ago solved this.

At the rate LA is losing wetlands, shouldn't you be a little more worried about this?

Serious NCAA scandal involving multiple large SEC teams (Big 6, A&M, USCe, Arky). Ex. A large bidding war for top recruits is discovered by the media. Multiple schools are implicated. Media finds a larger problem while investigating. NCAA is forced to act, creating very bad publicity for the conference, not to mention the schools involved.

Texas

If they ever get rid of the idiot they have there now and get a good coach they would be hard to beat. Imagine what Texas could do with a Nick Saban type coach.
