Unfortunately Mullen beat LSU three or four times between MSU and Florida.

That was a good win. But again LSU finished 9-4 that year.

Mullen has exactly one win over a P5 team that finished with 10 wins (Peach Bowl vs. Michigan)

For comparison, Kirby won 3 games against P5 teams that won 11 games just last season.
There are also 5 additional wins against P5 opponents who finished with 10 wins if you add in 2017 and 2018.

So it’s 8 to 1 if you’re scoring at home.

But again, that’s looking at cretin things like wins and losses and scores and stuff. Straws knows the deeper story. When you really examine things scientifically the coach who is 0-3 vs. Smart is actually far superior.

Mullen has shown in the last decade that you know exactly what you're going to get with him. And it's 90% good and 10% not as great.

He is a coach that is absolutely going to raise the floor of your program. The fact that Joe Moorhead flopped so badly and still won 14 games in two years is one million percent because of what Mullen built there. Then he goes to Florida and wins 10 and 11 games his first two years without even having to beat that many good teams.

But his track record also shows that huge, marquee wins have been harder to come by so far. Doesn't mean he can't win them occasionally, but on a consistent basis it's been harder to come by for him.

Florida will probably never have to worry about having another 4-8 type season like they had with Muschamp and McElwain as long as Mullen is there. And he may even have a team that's good enough to rise up and win the East or the whole league once or twice. But for the most part I think he will live in that 8-10 win range. I just don't have enough faith in his recruiting and in his situational play-calling in big games to expect him to be a coach that can consistently win championships.

You have to go all the way back to 2018 to prove this incorrect.

Florida - 27
LSU -19

LSU went 10-3 that year and finished #6 in the country

Grantham is carrying the water with for the Gators recruiting. The last 2 defensive classes are excellent. They will probably begin recognizing that excellence next season as they start to become upper classmen.

But mullen hasnt been successful with high school recruits. I can give him credit for filling holes with transfers. I dont follow the program close enough to know how all of these transfers pan out (any drafted? Any all conference contenders?).

Without recruiting, UF will be tied to the transfer market. Using some of the 25 recruiting spots for 1 year/2 year guys. Or the offense will struggle with depth through the sec grind.

Will their jealousy never end. They haven’t been relevant in 10 years and they still flaunt their inferiority complex constantly for all to see. But heck we love it. Its great entertainment. A dancing nerd for a coach, his extremely affectionate wife and a team of undisciplined three stars who couldn’t convert a third down of their life depended on it. All set in the lovely city of Hogtown. It’s like a weekly sitcom. Or a really bad reality show

Probably South Carolina in 2019. Very underrated. Much better than their record would suggest.

I know he was solid at state but I wasn’t convinced he’d Win at UF. At least not to their standard. With Trask pretty much proving he’s legit and being there w Mullen a while now I do believe they are a legit playoff contender. I believe they win the East this season.
