Serious question, if Kirby had been hired by Mississippi State would he have been fired after year two or year three?

This is a talking point that straws brings up in his summer tradition of “Mullen is a better coach than Smart.” It’s something we’ve all come to enjoy each summer following another Florida loss to Kirby.

My question on Kirby getting fired by Miss. State is the incongruity of Mullen not having that happen, but Mullen also being 0-3 vs. Kirby.

If Smart would have so obviously flopped at MSU why is he 3-0 against the guy that thrived at MSU?

Because he would be in the west, with less talent than he has at Georgia.

I get that the west is harder but if Mullen succeeded at MSU is it so hard to fathom that a coach who is 3-0 against him might also have thrived?

If I’m understanding yall, your argument is “Mullen did better at MSU than Kirby ever could, but Mullen is also 0-3 against Kirby because.....REASONS!”

I'll ask you a serious question out of curiosity, how long does UF put up with Mullen if he doesn't win the SECE or make the CFF playoffs/

I suppose there are lots of ways to compare UGA and UF football. I saw, in person, UF play LSU a topnotch game in losing to us in TS in 2019. When UGA played LSU in the SECCG, the dawgs were hot garbage and one of the poorest playing teams LSU played in 2019.

If Mulllen cant beat this UGA team, he might as well quit.

If only there were some other data point between Georgia and Florida that could compare them last season. Like say, and I’m just spitballing here, a game on a neutral field where one team never trailed and where the losing coach had to waste multiple timeouts in the first quarter because he messed up the team armbands.

Obviously that’d help compare the teams/coaches, but that’s obviously an imaginative hypothetical.

Let’s just do it the straws way: Mullen is a better coach than Kirby. I’ll keep posting that each summer after another Florida loss so you know it has to be true.

Hot damn. I guess that means that UF whipped UGA's arse the last two years then.

I think a lot - a lot - of it has to do with timing.

Dan Mullen was the right guy at the right time at MSU. I thought he did a great job there. Of course, he had the benefit of a lot of Mississippi talent deciding to stay home - but he did good with what he had.

I don't know if Mullen will do enough at Florida. Expectations are higher there, and they should be. At the same times, programs rise and fall. I think some of the angst in Gainesville is because they know, correctly, that all fame is fleeting.

I remember when Mike Shula was at Alabama as well. Tuscaloosa wasn't always the Death Star.

How in the world did we beat UF then?

Hint: we actually had our 3 top WR's and our best RB healthy vs UF

Typical and myopic.LSU poster.BTW UGA actually played other teams besides LSU in 18 and 19

You sound really scared that we're about to overtake Georgia.

Quite frankly, we should overtake Georgia this year, so I understand your fear.

Mullet is a solid coach, never going to win a natty at uf or anywhere else as a head ball coach.
