Thoughts on the games?
I'd watch, but it's been a warm start to winter, so I might miss some grass growing. Let me know when spring practice begins.

For as much as people like to say we live and die by the 3 (even though we don't) Maryland really does. If their 3s are falling they look like a top 20 team. If they aren't falling they look like a bad mid-major.

Sadly, that is about right. I have zero confidence that this team will play with heart other than Oscar. Then I look at Cal and know it makes no difference.

Arkansas is playing in Little Rock this weekend. We are historically TERRIBLE playing in LR. Take Bradley on this one.
Not really... But wouldn't surprise me.

Yall will beat Gonzaga by 15
It would be nice to get a more comfortable win. Close games are fun, but constantly being in close games can wear one down a bit.
Gonzaga is good though. #9 in RPI, all 3 losses in Q1. At least one of those by 1 point. Hopefully we're good enough to put them away.
We get a breather in our final OOC game during the initial OOC slate (Jacksonville State) then we open conference play with MSU, Ole Miss, Kentucky, and Arkansas - 3 of those 4 are currently ranked.
It is nice being #1 in rebounds per game and #3 in blocks per game in the country. Having a top 20 offense as well, and when you consider who we've played, it does feel good. Doesn't feel like those numbers were boosted against scrubs.

We have 2 Q1 wins retard. Marquette blew out Baylor and Utah beat top 10 Arizona. Both are great wins.

UConn threw us around like rag dolls
How so? I thought we were just as physical as they were and we outrebounded them. We both shot about the same percentages too, what killed us is the 21 turnovers. They only turned it over 12 times, that was the difference in the game IMO.
They also did a great job of keeping us from shooting threes, we shot 16 which is a very low amount for us, there have been games under Oats where we made over 20 threes, so only shooting 16 of them isn't ideal.
I agree with you that Uconn is the number 1 team right now.

They controlled the tempo and pace of the game and they wore us down in the last 7 minutes.

Speaking of Uconn, a good indicator of a good team is, is if they can be good in both adjusted offense and adjusted defense. Two years ago Alabama was in the top 10 in both most of the season, I think we might have ended up top 5 in both. The year Baylor won it they were #1 in both.
Uconn right now is #4 in adjusted D and #7 in adjusted Offense, so they're pretty damn good.
Alabama is 15th in the adjusted offense right now and 16th in adjusted D, and we will probably keep climbing, I think we will be better at the end of the year than we are now since we have so many young players and such a new team in general.

I was gonna go to Bama-Zags since I’m near Birmingham but a get-in price of $100 for nosebleed seats and $200-400 for lower bowl just ain’t worth it for me.

Really looking forward to Arizona vs Tennessee, the # 1 ranked offense going against the #1 defense.
Kentucky vs UCLA is a must watch too.

Gonzaga is not as good this season. I'll take the Tide in this one.
On paper I agree, but George hit on the big worry. The three of the last four games have been 4OT vs North Carolina and close, physical wars with Houston and Memphis.
That's physically and mentally exhausting no matter who you are and Bama's really young. An off day would be completely understandable.

USC vs #19 Auburn (Los Angeles)
I’m leaning USC on this one now, we’re an average team at best this season

Great post.
Since Oats and HDI (Colton Houston) emphasizes it so much, I've also really started paying attention to PPP as an indicative metric.

Whatever happened to the mandate that SEC schools needed to bolster their OOC schedules in order to overall improve the strength of the conference?
I guess there is no definitive way to say for sure a schedule meets some sort of toughness threshold, but clearly a number of schools ( you know who you are) in this conference are playing an extremely mediocre OOC schedule ladened with multitudes of directional schools, toothpaste schools, and schools no one knows where they are located.
