AJ Jr just tweeted "#RollTide" out of the blue. Usually that means good news is coming
quote:

I'm saying he wouldn't be the same player that he is at Kentucky if he was at Bama

No... You said....

quote:

We wouldn't be that much better.

But you're right, he wouldn't be the same player. His assist numbers would have probably been down but his scoring way up. But Bama would have been a MUCH better team.

We wouldn't be that much better.

So you're saying we wouldn't have been much better with a 5* McDonalds All American PG on the roster last year?

You're out of your mind...

We probably could have made the dance with a healthy Dazon....much less the best PG in the nation.

If Retin left after his junior year, he would've likely been headed to a similar school. Just because someone transfers to a mid-major doesn't mean they belong there.

Exactly. I mean Collins transferred to Morehead after his first year at LSU.

Look, I'm not saying that Collins is a bad thing. I'm excited about the addition...but he will be here for just a single season. If you look at the stats, Coleman and Collins had nearly mirror image stats from their first 2 seasons. As a SO, Collins averaged 1 more point than Coleman playing in the OVC while JC avg'd 1 more assist while playing a min less per game.

My point is that discarding a player based on first and year stats is silly. Look at the way Jamareo Davidson improved over his tenure: he didn't have a great low post game when he got here but ended up being really good on the block and his midrange improved drastically. Who's to say JC wouldn't have improved his ability to finish at the rim?

If I have a choice between Collins in only 16-17 and Coleman for 2 more years, I go Coleman every time. Maybe that's just me, and I could be completely off here.

And for the person that said Riley Norris is overrated...maybe his play isn't the best or flashiest, but nobody on the team gives more effort than that guy.
Of course the goal has been to put final 4 and championship banners in the rafters. It always has been...but how many are up in Coleman?

Right now, we can't criticize our players in their early years so much. I saw a lot of criticism with Coleman when he left and while he was streaky, he was asked to do too much as a PG with virtually 0 scoring threats around him. A PG cannot survive that way, especially one as small as he is.

I guess what I'm getting at is that as Bama fans, we can't hold these expectations that we should win like we do in football, especially right now. It takes time to build a great program and we will have to build with 3 and 4 year players imo. Development is key.
You guys put way too much stock into a players FR or SO years. Too critical. Look at players like Retin, Levi, Mikhail Torrence, CHUCK DAVIS, and several others. They were flat out bad when they got here but ended up being major contributors by the time they left Alabama. I think Coleman could have been that kind of player.

We need to pump the breaks with this mentality that we can scoop up one and done players like the blue bloods that can be major contributors from day one. We could get there, but not overnight.

I think our football success clouds our judgment when we are talking basketball.

With that said, we need Daniel Giddens. I've seen him play and it's just what we need.

Seems like 2015 was his anomaly for everything. I'll take his 35% and 38% from deep that he shot in 13-14 and 15-16 though. I'd love this pickup, but I'd be happy with any of the choices from Hampton, Collins, and Johnson and I would really like 2/3.

Someone on Twitter said that he had a torn labrum in 14-15 and opted to have surgery after the season.
Katin Reinhardt is going to Marquette

I am now fairly worried we are going to strike out with transfers.
I saw a guy on Twitter compare Katin to JR Smith saying that he isn't scared to jack it up from anywhere.

Quite frankly, I want him to come here just for that. He's a good sized guy too.

Experienced. I don't care if he's been to 2 schools already. We need a guy like that now to jump start our program.
Justin Coleman just said on Twitter he's going to transfer...
quote:

dude is paranoid, thin skinned, and extremely predictable.

So he's the black Nick Saban?
Avery doesn't have Levi though...we will miss him this season.

Not sure if serious...Miller can barely move and would be an absolute liability on defense.

BF: Hardline

I don't see a whole lot of chatter on this board...Do you guys enjoy it? I play on XB1 and although I'm not good at all, the game has me hooked in. Never been much of a gamer other than NCAA but when they stopped making it I switched to Madden. Didn't really like it that much so I decided to get a shooter. Never played the FPS games till I picked up Hardline so I wouldn't know if COD or any of the other titles were better.
Bama may have a bust or 2 in the NFL but no team in any sport anywhere in the world has had as many busts as LSU once the players got to campus and didn't get coached up. The ones that do make it tend to start playing out of their minds all of the sudden (see OBJ).

As long as Bama keeps winning titles with future busts, it's fine with me...as long as those busts do not land on a Steeler roster.

Instead of the criticism of Bama players in the NFL, you may want to look at Les Miles and your own team for not developing HS talent properly. A college coaches job is to win games, not to get players ready for the NFL. Saban does that...Miles doesn't do either.
There is a reason we have more so called "busts"....

1st round draft picks since 2010....

Bama- 15
LSU- 6
Auburn- 4

62 tackles, 3 ints, 19 passes defended in 16 games

64 tackles, 2 ints, 13 passes defended in 16 games

one of these is dee milliner's first 16 games (which is how many hes played in total), one of these is patrick peterson's first 16 games. which do you think is which?

Why bring facts and comparisons to the table?
I care about the NFL...but I couldn't care less about how a former Bama player is doing. When they leave Alabama, if they aren't a Steeler, I don't care enough about it to let another SEC fan rustle my jimmies.

....but since LSU fans can no longer troll them while they are in school, might as well follow their NFL career in hopes to see them fail there. What's Bama's win streak at over LSU now?
