I’ll give credit where it’s due. Auburn is a very nice town and would be a great place to live.

Athens and Fayetteville are the top two and I've been to every one of them, some multiple times.

I mean,it's improved but I think you're
going a little overboard.

Great?

You got Valley/Lanett a few miles to the East and Tuskegee a few miles to the West.Compared to those 2 places it's paradise

Baton Rouge too high.

LSU in the top 1-3 prettiest campuses, but Baton Rouge is a shite show.

Completely agree. Most people I know are so surprised when they see how pretty campus is. Cracks me up. BR though, completely blows

Very few towns left. And even those becoming small cities.

Starkvegas and Oxford are about the only towns left. And even those two are growing out of the township status. Both are still under 50K in population.

The next group would be your mid-size cities:
Tuscaloosa, Auburn, Athens, Fayetteville, Gainesville, College Station, Columbia, MO. These have all grown exponentially over the last 20-30 years. These are in the range of 75K to 500K.

The next group is your larger metropolitan areas:
Baton Rouge, Nashville, Lexington, Knoxville, Columbia, SC. All these have metropolitan population over 500K.

Each of the above areas have their positives and negatives.

And if you are going to a game, then you can have a good time at all of them.

Austin (ugggghhh, the city peaked about 25 years ago and is now a cesspool) and Norman don’t count yet.
Thankfully I visited Austin several times in the 1980’s when it was a great city. Sadly that is not the case anymore.

I've been to all of them

1. Fayetteville
2. Athens
3. Oxford
4. Nashville - trending down though with their woke bullshite and their fake woke "country" music, white dipshit rap, etc

5. Norman - I probably rated them too high
5. Lexington
5. Knoxville

8. Tuscaloosa - boring, why else would Pete Golding drink so much?
8. Gainesville - boring
8. Starkville - boring
8. Auburn - boring

12. Columbia, MO - would be better if they'd jerk a knot in that gang crime
13. Baton Rouge - ETA, it hurts me to rank BR this low
14. Columbia, SC - ridiculous crime, amirite?
15. College Station - impersonal, flat, no trees, just stupid
16. Austin - absolute shite hole

I counted 4 kitchens, not including grilling areas outside

I wonder how Sewanee might look today if they somehow managed to survive in the SEC, and grow from a tiny college to a small private university.

You misspelled Columbus/Atlanta. Auburn is paradise compared to them. Athens, Oxford, and even Starkville are nice college towns. The big cities like Nashville and Knoxville are different animals and good for different reasons.

LMAO!

Why is Atlanta home to all the Auburn grads then?

The only more depressing places than Valley/Lanett are Tuskegee/Montgomery.

Honestly?

Fayetteville is the best place I've lived in and that includes a really wide section of the country since I grew up in a military family.

The problem with Fayetteville, and the rest of NW Arkansas, is that folks have noticed it is a great place to live. Now it is an increasingly expensive place to live. 20 years ago I'd have told anyone to sell everything they had and buy property up here. Y'all would be millionaires.

10-11 years ago I had an investment property on a .17 lot under contract for $68K, and I backed out because I found out it had charred joists in the attic from a fire

if I'd had any balls and just grabbed it anyway, I would have sold it 5 years ago as a teardown for $400K

Example: Bama’s campus is beautiful and historic. The strip is decent, but the rest of the town is nothing to write home about.

Have lived in both Oxford and Tuscaloosa.

They are virtually the same except where Oxford has Batesville 20 miles away, Tuscaloosa's Batesville is on the direct periphery

It's small town southern college cities. Not a lot of difference outside of the hood in Baton Rouge and the big city back drop to Vandy.

If I'm being honest, Fayetteville and Athens are the best overall.
