What is lame is the constant changing of tailgating getting further from the stadium because of, yawn, security reasons.
The frick? At MSU we tailgate literally right next to the stadium

For tailgating & food, LSU is hard to beat. Fried turkey, gumbo, boudin, crawfish pistolettes (my favorite), BBQ shrimp, and on and on. If you make it to T-town, try to make it to the Bryant Museum & my favorite place, the Waysider Restaurant. Archibald’s is great also. Quad gets packed but can be a lot of fun, MDB & the drum corps can put on a good show by the Chimes (jmho). Safe travels …

There was a MSU fan on here yesterday that said he was looking forward to visiting Norman. So I’d stay away from Starkville. It’s got to be a shithole if it makes Norman Oklahoma exciting.

Kentucky - Nice looks/scenery, great people, Kroger Field isn't a bad experience, overall - It's pretty cool. I don't know what i'd improve but Lexington looks wonderfull in the fall
Mizzou - Columbia is a nice-arse town, nice people, tailgating experience is meh (don't mean it in a bad way, nothing stood out to me or maybe that's because I didn't tailgate for that long), Stadium is nice to look at and to be in
Haven't been @ TAMU

20 years ago, LSU was the best game day experience, by far, for a visiting fan. Fly in to New Orleans on Friday afternoon, then party in the French Quarter that night. Wake up Saturday and drive to LSU and set up your tailgate. Walk around and meet people. Tiger Stadium and the pre-game activities. Sunday morning, drive back down to New Orleans, have lunch and then fly out.
Now, New Orleans is so dangerous, I'd never recommend someone going there. The Greenies started to hurt tailgating about 15 years ago when they cried that tailgaters were hurting the roots of the old Oak trees, so they limited where they could set up. Then, they started charging to park and to tailgate at places they'd never charged before.
Over time, the administration has done everything they could do to Kill tailgating. Not sure how it's still as good as it is on GameDay.

A good Army team that never passed the ball. Remember, you’re Tennessee. You’ve endured some embarrassing losses. Hell, you’ve relinquished decent leads on OU in our most recent games.

LSU was a blast. If you make a trip to South Carolina, then I'd definitely recommend spending the weekend in Charleston and driving up to Columbia for the game. That set-up immediately puts the trip up near the top in the conference. Some of the smaller towns (Auburn/Athens/etc.) are fun but there's just not as much to do there in my opinion. Compared to like a Nashville for example.

Lexington is the best sec road trip, especially in October and horses running at keeneland

A & M had to reallocate season tickets to allocate to visitors.
Texas gave us 3000 all in upper deck last year. That won’t fly

There is plenty to do around Athens if you know the area, but it does require having a car. Sunday brunch in Athens is a little slice of heaven with near infinite variety of good places, but alas one of my favorites, Heirloom, has closed. However, I have always loved how the stadium itself nestles into the valley in the center of campus and just is a natural part of it all. However, while they have improved some concessions, they still are not great overall. Mostly because it is typical stadium fare with few local touches served by various high school / middle school groups and their parents doing it for fundraising which makes the service/lines. Take forever. They are doing some more improvements on the south side this off-season. It is easy to walk all around campus, but it is a bit more hilly than you are expecting likely, and can be a hike from one side to the other.

My ranking for trips I've taken; most sentiments have already been expressed, and I'm excluding LSU as I am biased:
1. Athens - This was while in college and purely based on the bar scene. It was an amazing weekend. Its been a while since I've gone, and I may have a different opinion now with different goals in mind haha)
2. Fayetteville - Beautiful town with a great gameday atmosphere
3. Tuscaloosa - Basically an above average experience for everything. No one aspect will wow you, but it has everything you're looking to see
4. Auburn - Pretty fun gameday experience and a bar scene that translates to adults pretty well imo.
5. Starkville - Very underrated imo, but I know a lot of state fans so that may skew my experience. I go quite often
6. Oxford - only went in my freshman year of college, but it was fun. It's pretty much just the grove, but the grove is worth the trip)
7. Gainesville - Regret going both times. It's absolutely awful and has zero redeeming qualities other than saying you've been to The Swamp.

Lexington for a UK game when Keeneland is running is the best road trip weekend in all of sports. If you see an away game at UK your schedule during Keeneland's fall run. Buy tickets and make hotel reservations immediately.
College Station is not the College Station of 10+ years ago. There's a quarter million people in the college station metro now. Nice hotels, high end restaurants. Campus is much nicer and tailgating is a much bigger deal since we've joined the SEC. SEC tailgate culture is infectious. Same will happen to the tailgate scene in Norman over the next 10 years.
Can't comment on much more. Life has had me too busy to make many as many road trips I'd like to. But know that the SEC gameday is a VERY different animal than anything in the Big 12, OU included. Every game is a massive weekend long event. You're going to have a blast.

Don’t listen to the people who lowballed State. Great campus, great stadium, great atmosphere, friendly fans, tailgating is superb and is in the shadow of the stadium.
Starkvegas is an underrated town that has come a long way over the last 40 years.
Still has the small town charm but has tons of amenities now to make it a nice place.

I'm not sure why I would have to give up my seats. I've been a season ticket holder and donor for 24 years, and will be pretty pissed if all of a sudden I'm being told they're gone.

1. Environment has been LSU @ night in 2016. Now we had a horrific team so we were under no illusion it was going to be close. Went for the environment and was insane. Exceeds the hype. I’ve been to several games in Norman, and one vs A&M and there is no comparison and that is not an insult toward you all. Nothing like it I’ve seen in regular season sports.
*Ive not been to a night Bama, Auburn, Georgia game.

LSU will be most unique. To me Mississippi schools, Georgia and Alabama are pretty similar as the cultures in each state are similar.

OP, if you’re a serious CFB road tripper you and OU fans are about to be in heaven.
I’ve been to many B12 stadiums and outside of Vandy, every other SEC environment is better than what you’ve experienced outside of Norman(state fair excluded).
I know many Aggies that just go on 1 or 2 away games a year to eventually go to every stadium.
