LSU-Arkansas was really a great game every year and it should really be brought back with OU in the SEC now. You'll never convince me both teams didn't hate each other as badly as we hate Auburn based on how the actual games went.

We had a golden opportunity to bring this back and Sankey fricked it up.

Thanksgiving week:
Ole Miss vs Miss State
LSU vs Arkansas
Texas vs Texas A&M
Alabama vs Auburn
Oklahoma vs Missouri

This would be an awesome lineup

Elite scheduling. The suits put a great blueprint in place but they have no idea how to make it work. We need an actual fan in the room

Yeah cause when people think of SEC football they immediately think of Texas - OU football . Red River is a great rivalry but no one associates that with the SEC yet

While this is a fair point...

What I am curious about is how Tennessee fans feel about Alabama fans and vice versa...

With Oklahoma and Texas...there is a cultural thing that is at its root and fuels the rivalry. And it is deeper than just the fandom of the two schools.

It goes to the root of how you are raised as a Texan as opposed to an Oklahoman. Texans being raised that they are bigger and better and Okies being constantly told that they are beneath and not as good as... especially by Texans.

I have no idea if Tennessee and Alabama have that dynamic or not. I doubt it would be to the degree that Texas and Oklahoma have.

I do know that old school Arkansas fans have an understanding of what being a rival of Texas is like...the difference between Oklahoma and Arkansas was that Arkansas got to play Texas in Arkansas every year. Oklahoma has to play Texas in Texas every year.

TSIO is most definitely a cultural state of being for those whose family has been united by supporting both of these respective football programs over the generations. It's the rivalry that put major Southern college football on the map nationally back in the day. Nobody has beaten Tennessee football more than Alabama has. And nobody has beaten Alabama as much as Tennessee has.

Anyone who supports either school that thinks it would be no big deal if we lost the annual TSIO matchup is an idiot who doesn't know anything about the programs they claim to cheer on. This game matters a lot to many people and always has.

FFS what other rivalry in all of sports involves literal victory cigars for the winning squad? TSIO is an iconic Southern/college football rivalry.

Bama fans hate Auburn because they have to. Bama fans hate Tennessee because they want to. Its a border rivalry and the original SEC rivalry along with Deep South. Bear Bryant, Johnny Majors, Bowden Wyatt, Jeremy Pruitt, and Phillip Fulmer all played in the Third Saturday. Hell Bear Bryant broke his leg and got ejected from the game as a player. Its deep hatred. Phillip Fulmer tried to get Bama the death penalty in the early 2000s. Not sure what else is needed for an all time rivalry

I was at that game. Had OU shirt and LSU hat on. It was great to just sit and enjoy a game without stressing over the result.

Also the most fun I've had interacting with fans. I literally got a Tigerbait? with a question mark.

Texas vs. Texas A&M will never be the popular pick for "best rivalry", but I think it's one of the most real ones in the country. There's nothing fake about it.

I know your question was regarding the TSIO. But, the eggbowl is most definitely cultural. Think Plaids vs Polos or Khakis vs Blue jeans. We chant Hotty Toddy and they ring cowbells.

I read the rant. I live in Texas. My Longhorn friends never talk shite about OU. And neither do the Longhorn fans on here, for the most part. They only have actual hate for one school.

That’s because growing up in Texas, for 100+ years, Longhorns and aggies are forced to share small towns, high schools, families, and friends with each other … with daily opportunities to get under each other’s skin…

On average, not nearly as much forced daily Longhorn / Sooner interaction… except at the State Fair in Dallas for the Red River Shootout once a year…

Under the Radar: LSU - Florida
Was always the best inter-division matchup to me. NFL talent all over the field and usually fun to watch. Not a border state rivalry but, Florida parishes is a historical regional connection...
The best 50+ years straight non-rivalry, rivalry game in the SEC to me. UGA-AU been too one sided lately.
