1998- BCS Era starts
2014- expanded playoffs
2024- expanded playoffs

Obviously OU is not better than Alabama or Ohio State since 2000. But they are very much in the discussion with Georgia, LSU, and Clemson. Maybe not ahead but certainly in the discussion.

Correct for conference strength and then pull in head to head and results in BCS/playoff era and they absolutely fall behind LSU and Georgia

Thanks for doing the work I was about to. People forget how good Stoops was. He played in 4 National title games. Yes he only won 1 but lost close games to LSU in New Orleans and Tebow and Florida in Florida. He swept home and home series with Alabama, Tennessee, Oregon, Florida St, Nebraska, Washington, and Miami. He owned Texas.

other than I would put OU in there over clemson just based on playoff appearances and title games where clemson only has advantage in NCs 2 to 1

Clemson only trails bama in playoff appearances, won two, played for two others. Also Dabo skulled fricked top ten Oklahoma in 2013 and again in the 1st round of the playoffs in 15. Ou absolutely shouldn’t be above Clemson since 2000

Oklahoma has been better than almost all those schools since 2000 I would think.

The best job the SEC ever did was convince yall and the media to push a narrative it’s head and shoulders better than every conference. Better yes, way better no. But keep telling yourself that.

It’s always been a few great schools, a few good, and many average.

It's not just how great some of the teams are that makes the SEC so much better. It's the passion as well. No other conference can even come close to how passionate the fans are in this conference.
Yeah the bottom half of the SEC is generally overrated but you can't deny the dominance of the best teams most years.

Saban became head coach at LSU. Evidently this signals the real beginning of college football.

Yep, they always ignore the first few years of the BCS/Bowl Alliance for some reason.

I fully agree with both those takes. The issue is the bottom half are not as great as they think they are and it’s a rotating bunch of 1-2 schools that are elite not 5- half the conference like they want you to believe.

Clemson had two all-world quarterbacks. Oklahoma had consistently good teams under Bob Stoops.

Did Oklahoma not have Baker, Kyler and Hurts?

Which is surprising considering the number of nfl players this conference produces.

OU had 154 total yards of offense vs LSU (102 yards passing and 52 yards rushing) before they scored a trash TD in the 4th quarter to make the game look a lot closer than it actually was.

That was an arse beating, the first of several that LSU would give OU in the 21st century.

There is no argument to be made that any college football program other than Alabama and POSSIBLY Ohio state has been better than LSU since 2000….Oklahoma has gotten their bell rung each time they tried to step up and take on LSU

1900-1999

2000-2099

Seems like a natural delineation to me.
