This isn't even debatable. Austin lost it's eclectic college-ish vibe 2 decades ago.

That’s the shittiest city in Okie

It's like they looked at Enid and said, "if we make it twice as big, I wonder if it will be twice as shitty?"

And it is.

Austin used to he great. Today, it's a shithole of a city.

6th Street is too dangerous to barhop after dark, and there are homeless all over downtown. The fun, quirky, party-town Austin of 20 years ago is long gone.

Also, yeah, Lawton, OK is a dump. Big mistake there.

Houston didn't make the list? You know, the only school you actually have any ties to.

They have to be referencing Tulane.

Lol then they would just say New Orleans

And New Orleans is not a college town

ETA: Neither is BR but certainly more of life is centered around LSU in BR than Tulane in NOLA

That would be like calling Franklin a college town because it's near Nashville where Vandy is.

Is Uiversity of New Orleans in Metairie? I know it's in the Metairie area, not sure where exactly Metairie's borders are.

They’re college towns, not cities.
It’s probably why you’re not seeing the usuals (e.g., Seattle, Austin).

Meh. Is Lexington a College Town? Don't get me wrong, it's a great city and I've raised my kids here, but it doesn't have a college town feel in many respects.

Downtown is a financial district with a bunch of white tablecloth restaurants. The blue bloods and horsey crowd dominate the social scene. When the students go home for the summer, you don't really notice a difference in traffic around town.

Louisville bigger, more blue collar, and less of a college town. Richmond is a dump. Can't really comment on Bowling Green.

Danville is a cool college-like town, but Centre is pretty small and doesn't dominate the local scene.

I'm not sure the state really has a true college town.

I don't understand what being a state capitol has to do with a place being a college town or not though. Madison Wisconsin is rated the best college town in the nation by alot of people and has 640,000 residents in it's metro area and is a state capitol. So is Columbia, sc.

Tulane is on a stones throw from Metairie and UNO is on the edge of the city limits. Maybe it is the combination of both.

Haven't been to Lawton, might be one hell of a college town. I have spent some time in Hattiesburg.

Bowling Green is probably the most quintessential college town in KY. Very nice mid-sized town, and WKU is right at the center of everything.

Agree on Lex. Great little city, but not a college town.

Not Auburn instead of Tuscaloosa? I’m a little surprised with that.

I’m honestly relieved everyone feels this way. Whatever keeps others from moving here is good with me!

Austin is almost nothing but green and purple haired vegans driving around in hybrids with California tags and a “Bernie 2016” bumper sticker.
